PICK 56: COLLINGWOOD - TYLER KEITEL (WEST PERTH)

HEIGHT, WEIGHT:
196 cm, 95 kg.
DATE OF BIRTH: 07/02/1996
BEST POSITION: Key Position Player

My preference was for Tassie's Hugh Dixon here but missed him by only a couple of picks so I decided to hunt for the best mature key talent from the state leagues.

Tyler has been in and around draft discussions since his draft year with East Perth in 2014 before making the transition to reserves and senior footy at West Perth before the 2015 season. Only 22 next year so should still be able to carve out a career in the AFL

Was named Full Back in the WAFL team of the year for 2016, than at Full Forward in 2017 so he has proved versatile enough to play tall at either end and has now developed his body to a size where he can make a impact straight away at AFL level.

Averaged fractionally above 5 marks a game in 2017 to be second most on the list of WAFL key forwards while only Liam Ryan had more shots at goal during 2017. Ended up kicking 46.44 so his radar could do with some adjusting

dajesmac Geelong have Pick 57

Very interesting read guys and i love seeing other supporters views on how things may shape up in the upcoming draft and how other supporters may see opposition teams needs and select players that they believe they may need.

ArdentEagle - RICHMOND Appreciate your selections and you have a couple that look to have nailed it but some picks that are way way off our needs (no disrespect mate just giving a tiger supporters view to add some flavour to the mock)

#17 - Oscar Allen
Very good choice with the players that were still available at this selection

#20 - Tim Kelly
I wouldnt agree with this selection as a Richmond supporter, Isnt really a massive need and will be 24 next year so really a today type midfielder
Martin,Cotchin,Prestia,Caddy,Graham,C.Ellis we would probably be looking at a Defensive midfielder at this pick with the players still available i would say
Ed Richards or Joel Garner would have been more suitable at this selection

#25 - Charlie Ballard
At this pick is where i believe you have made the biggest error, A bid at #22 where we would have used our #25 to match Patrick Naish would have been a no brainer as we wouldnt have been disadvantaged in our further picks due to the 197 point discount,Richmond have been grooming and keeping in touch with Patrick for 3 years and will be matching any pick #12+ but not before due to inadequate points Richmond will 100% match Naish.

#53 - Hugh Dixon
Another great Choice and exactly the type of player that Richmond need for post Jack Riewoldt, Hugh is a good size and has some mongrel in him and is a true KPF with his only issue being agility but not the worst here

#55 - Liam Ryan
This is probably the strangest selection of them all , Really confusing
Richmond need KPP more than any other position but are bursting at the seems for small fowards on our list
Rioli,Edwards,Butcher,Stengle,Castagna,Lloyd,Bolton are all small fowards
Player i would say that would have suited here from the players still available would have Been either another KPF or a Ruckman
Tom McCartin would have been an ideal suit

Thanks Guys - great effort and enjoyed the read

Thanks for the feedback mate.
TBH - I just really don't like what I see with Naish, don't like him at all.
Then again, I'm just a guy making judgements off internet videos.

It'll be interesting to see 4-5 years down the track.
I'm backing Ballard in to be the better player by some way.

In regards to Kelly, I do have a thing for him so the rose coloured glasses were on with that pick.
Same goes for Ryan, I do have a couple of defenders in mind for my next pick.

Truth be told though, I could have thought about overall balance more however, as a group, I think they'll all have a good chance of making it. A lot of potential too.

Finally some actual mocking, I was starting to get disappointed with this thread
I am on best behaviour as there are many many picks that I expect to be way later than they have been taken. "WTF are You Doing" came to mind a few times.

All I can say is that Tyler Keitel must have got in as pick 56 by a short neck. Come to think about it - not possible as everyone knows he has no neck.

With Geelong's pick, we bid on Jackson Edwards, the F/S prospect from Adelaide.

wraglesweb do you match?

If you do, I move on to select: Hamish Brayshaw. 187cm, 88kg mature aged inside mid who is the older brother of Angus and Andrew. If not, then Edwards it is haha.

Either way could you tag squashface when you decide pls

Controversy, I like it. You’ll all love my next pick than.

Think it’s fair to say that the Pies are after KPP’s. Keitel fits that bill and can play straight away without spending months in the gym.

A lot of the key forwards I looked at from state leagues were outside my age bracket.

You had Naughton or Brander there at 6 and would be able to play like Lever did in his first year. Not sure I understand the desire for Coffield if you want an instant fix.

JK is licking his lips and hoping to play Collingwood twice if Keitel is going to play FB in 2018. Hell, even Darling is thinking he might even get a bucketful.

Keitel forward.

Drafting a rookie tall defender at 6 (when your next pick is 37) versus a mature key forward in the 4th Round is like comparing apples and oranges.

Coffield has genuine star qualities and leadership credentials that stand out like a sore thumb. Brander abd Naughton should forge long senior careers but I like Coffield especially as that connecting defender between defence and midfield/ attack.

Keitel wasn’t my first preference, but if Moore is anticipated to go back than it leaves a hole for them inside 50 which probably gets filled by Reid and Cox but Tyler will become ready made depth.

You think Tyler would get monstered and would be out of his depth?
