How will the Eagles being in the Wizard Wok Final affect Round 1?

Will they be advantaged or disadvantaged by participating?

Will we be advantaged by having more of an insight into their game, due to more in depth coverage and footage? While we are playing a game with almost no coverage at all.

What about if they lose, will it damage their preparation for the real stuff?

or

If they win, will it give them the momentum to hit the ground running to start the season ?

Any thoughts?

Interesting statement and there a few train of thoughts as you mentioned. I would say a win would be very advantageous to them. It will fill them with a lot of conifdence heading into round 1 for sure. On the other hand a win could come at a cost. There could be a dramatic change in attitude from the players celebrations could be over done. If there is a loss this could bring the side down in confidence. They could carry that through to round one. Its hard to say it could on the other hand spur them on that little bit more to win the real stuff.

From the crows point of view the extra expsure the eagles are receiving I see is an advantage. Getting an insight into the eagles game plan and so forth. A win and the exposure with that could put a lot more pressure on the eagles and this could be there un doing.

Its hard to say but you know what they say MOMENTUM IS A BIG THING IN FOOTY. oh its true

Win or lose for them I don't think it changes much. They have had a very good preparation either way and should be much more match ready for round 1 than we are.

The Eagles, like a majority of the sides in the competition are a very professional side and I dont think a loss or a win in a pre season final will have an effect on them.

I will be watching the game with a very keen eye to see how they will line up for round 1 I will not be relying on a certain result to help us come round 1.

We are behind the 8-ball I feel they are one of the sides to watch this season. I think the best thing we can do is just have a very close look in preparation for round 1.

Although our game may not be telecasted I would pretty much guarentee there will be Eagles scouts at our game, coming over a day earlier, so I dont think this will matter too much.

If anyone else gets the chance to watch the game I think we should do some reports, pretty much like what we do for Adelaide games so we can have a bit of a more educated guess at match ups and what not.

I was hoping the Eagles would win last week as they would have to travel for the GF. Currently their focus is still on the Wizzer, whilst ours is on round 1. However, if they beat Carlton away, that will be a good confidence boost for when they play us, ast a ground they haven't had much success of late.

I would think they'd like to win the Wizzer, not for the sake of that wretched wok, but because a win helps create the self-belief that they can win on the road, which they have had a bit of trouble with in the last couple of years or so.

They've always had a miserable record at Footy Park , so I would think they'd like to come into the game with both momentum and confidence.

I reckon they're going to be a pretty good unit this year, and a hard nut for us to crack , even at home.

If they win that, they take the confidence and the intensity from it into round 1 against us; if they lose they will take out there frustration in losing on us, nobody likes to lose a GF, it hurts regardless of what it's for. Either way to beat them we are going to have to play very well.

I personally think the result of the final will be significant. If they win it, they will have an away win under the belt, on a big stage too. It will give them confidence and momentum, the two things they will need to win here IMO. They havent been good on the road in recent times and a loss might sew the seeds of doubt again. They have a pretty ordinary record here as well so with out that win, confidence and momentum, we are a pretty good chance IMO.

I will be barracking for Carlton this week, purely because of the advantages it might create for us in Round 1.

Here in Perth it has been a quiet buildup to this..I put this down to Woosha. Who would have believed a guy who had white line fever was so laid back???

I screwed up thinking they would have a weeks break then play in round 1. But it is a 2 week break so I cant see too much on the travel

Apparently the Eagles have won at TD 4 out of there last 19 games , so the comment about a win at a losing stadium will boost them for AAMI.

I think the team for the Wizzer will closely resemble the Round 1 team( barring injuries) apart from Matera who is close to resuming. There seems to be a quiet air of confidence about this Eagles unit and if not this year then 2006 is a definite chance for them. But back to round 1 I will be tipping Crows
