Just re-signed didn't he?
Hadn't heard that. Strange given he's a rookie.

Don't think he'll ever be reliable enough by foot to secure a spot in the team as a rebounding defender. Either that or he's going to frustrate everyone with his slow kicking.

Would have cost East Perth four goals yesterday with turnovers and fumbles.

I agree. Rotham is the better prospect.

My issue with Rotham is that they want to turn him into a KPD but he seems to be more of a flanker and doesn't look like someone who will be able to have a frame big enough to play as a kPD.
They’re probably just developing his defensive skills rather than setting him up to be solely an unaccountable loose flanker

That's the hope, and it gives him the best chance of reaching his reasonable potential. The neg side of me can't help but worry that isn't their intention though, I feel like we may have mis-developed players in the past (eg Dylan Main).

Hmm whatever gives you that idea
Haha. I'm actually specifically thinking of some of our later picks/lesser prospects in that I think we may have misidentified their best position.

On the whole I think our recruiting & development stacks up okay and we're seeing the fruits of that now to some extent.

Yeah I just wonder about the plethora of mids or mid-HBFs that we have drafted since 2007 and failed.

Agree that we haven’t done that well with speculative utility types

The midfield point is certainly true, I'll pay that.

On the second point, I suppose so, but I feel that may be more nitpicking given as a whole we are in pretty good shape. The midfield situation has been an abject failure given we've focused our resources toward it. Fingers crossed we have turned a corner in that regard though.
