Not official but some reports are saying its 800k and and some are saying part of that is not paid by the club but the AFL.

People quickly forget how good he was in 2012. Last year he had OP, which is bad enough for a midfielder let alone someone who relies on his explosiveness for every contest. This year was always going to be baby steps in terms of his recovery and coming off very little preseason work. The club must be confident he is going to get back to his best.

I'm not upset by it, none of us know exactly what he is getting paid, and how much is from the club, and how much is thrown in from the AFL for his ambassador role and other community roles. So really I can't see how people are so against it, he has shown, only 2 seasons ago, how good he can be, and that was at the age of 22, he has had massive interuptions for the last few, if not all, of his pre seasons and is still working up to full fitness. If he can stay fit, and string together a few seasons like Coxy did, then he will be back to his best, if not better than he was.

It is all still a big if, but we had to sign him, couldn't bluff our way through and risk losing him to GWS or another struggling club with heaps of cash. We will have a few retire in the next few years and hopefully everyone at the club sees some success in the future and is willing to get paid what they are actually worth, not what they think they are worth.

If guys leave in the next few seasons, and are getting squeezed out because of salary cap pressure then I guess we know it has backfired, but until then, lets just be happy he has committed to the club, and hope for his best on field form in the near future.

It is definitely under 1mill as when he was asked if the figures thrown around were close and he said they were not and also mentioned he wasn't greedy. He is past his injuries and is building back to 2012 form and on that i think he is worth the 800k he is reported to be getting.

Secondly, the contract includes substantial performance incentives.

Finally, he's a brilliant player. If the tossers on the main board can't see that, that's their problem.

His injury and his playing style this year in reminiscent of Judd when he was injured. People were certainly writing him off and said the club were handling it poorly.

Now we know Judd bounced back to win a brownlow and play some excellent football, so we know it's not always going to be like this, plus he's still so young.

Happy with the announcement, and if it is indeed in the realm of 500-600k from our club I think that's probably reasonable given we signed LeCras for 500k (I think?) for 4 years.

That's actually very true! Not sure what it is, the only time I would want a star of the game not play well is if we are playing them, otherwise I enjoy watching the best play at their best, apart from freo players, hate those guys
