Ouch our run home after the bye is quite daunting. If we finish in the top 4 come finals we deserve it.
Could win 6-8 of those..given our current form, style and depth, unless we're completely injury ravaged or some teams drink from the 'magic-improver cup' post-bye.
Fair to expect at least one upset against a lesser side, a wildcard, an off-day?
The Swans away, Pies at G, Crows at AO and Demons at Optus are main threats (the last two almost seem soft threats now).
Pies at G is the big one, win that and the lid will really come off...(after the Tigers and Hawks games?)
Of course the wheels could come off instead and we might lose a bunch of games after the bye, but seriously how or why would that happen? loss of form or confidence...not likely, there's 5 home games and 3 'easy-beat' games after the bye.
I mean what could possibly go wrong predicting in May....? ;)

DD is a good poster, he was serious.

He is also an astute judge of footy, rarely biased - I guess years of being a Melbourne supporter does that to you.

If I remember correctly he was one of the first to jump on when we started becoming a threat in 2015.
I must have him confused with another Melbourne supporter that hates us on the main board

At this stage in 2012 we were equal top with Adelaide and Essendon.

The GF was Hawthorn v Sydney who at this stage were 6th and 4th at the time.

After home and away season Adelaide finished 2nd, Eagles 5th and Essendon 11th [emoji44]

Just saying. Its a long year.

Thanks for your post.
I agree with your assessment in relation to our key position talent. Our key position quality and depth is as good, if not better, than any time in the club’s history IMO. Add to that a ruck division that could totally dominate the comp if they can get fit and we have plenty of pillars in place.

If we can get our midfield to take a few strides forward, we might be a chance. It’s not inconceivable that Yeo could become a marking, goal-kicking, hard-ball winning mid. That would make us substantially better straight away. If Sheed could be an inside warrior of Priddis’ type, but with better disposal and better speed, we’d also be much better for it. If Venables could add a second attacking option next to Shuey, that would help also. There’s heaps of things that could go our way, but so far, they’re all big “ifs”.

I can see where you are coming from, but we’ll need a lot of things to go our way.

Forgive the self-bump, but we’re looking better, so far, than I could have hoped.

We’ve now got enough wins on the board that we could ride out a slump in form and still be well placed for finals. Get a few more wins, then it’s all about peaking in September.

I could do without the GF being as close as '06 if we make it, though.
