If it is good enough for the Olympic Games committee to take back the gold medals won by drug cheats should the AFL take back the premiership unfairly won by the Eagles now that the club have admitted that they knew Benny and others were on drugs half way through the year?

That's the standard for individuals and teams that have found to be affected by drugs, I can see no reason why the AFL should leave the records stand. As an aside, the Sydney players can actually thank the kids that give them their premiership medallions.

:D
So F----nuckle. Are you saying that you,ve never had a choof or you didn,t swallow?

That,s no good to you . Sydney would have belted you senseless in a GF.
Agreed, Adelaide couldn't have beaten an under 10 school team the way they played in the second half of the preliminary.

It's clear to me that the 2006 premiership should be handed to Sydney - or perhaps it could be recorded as a NO AWARD so that in
years to come the list of premiers would look something like this...
2004 Port Adelaide
2005 Sydney
2006 NO AWARD DUE TO WEST COAST (now de-registered) DRUG CHEATING
2007 Fremantle
2008 Fremantle
2009 Fremantle
etc

We're talking about premierships, not wooden spoons;)

My my, testy person for not seeing the tongue in cheek in the original posting

Unfortunately the fiasco has occured and its your team involved in what has been ongoing for some time now - if the heads of the club had put an end to this originally instead of letting the players run the way things were going then perhaps this may not have come to light

They had their opportunities a while back when Kerr was picked up for prescription drugs and then Cousins and Gardiner were being implicated.

If people arent involved in the club can see it why could they?

Have you SEEN what ice and cocaine do to people?? Cousins didn't play better footy for taking drugs. Eagles won the premiership because they played very good footy at the right part of the season and were better than Swans on the day. Cousins was a part of that DESPITE his drug use, not because of it.

I might be proven wrong this weekend, but I don't think it will affect their footy either. I think they will come out with a point to prove this weekend and outplay the Swans.

Anyway, move on. Dockers probably have their best chance ever to crack it this year so enjoy the season!!

(I hate the Eagles and watched the game begging Sydney to take them out in September but... credit where credit's due.)

Wooden spoons are good for Fremantle. At least they'll have something to put in the trophy cabinet.

We use our spoon to spank the eagles everytime we play them.

That's given us a few Derby trophies to keep the shelves warm for the real cups we'll be winning soon.

I love it, I especially love the 2006 one - now de-registered :)

To stay on topic though - as someone else has said - because he didn't test positive on the day - there isn't much they can do after the fact.

I personally believe that the AFL have to toughen up on the drug taking. I've yet to see them take any action towards either Benny or WCE.

And if WCE get a release on the salary cap to cover Benny's drug rehab that to me is saying, well yeah go on let your players do whatever. When/If they get caught we'll make sure your club suffers no hardship.

Realistically the WCE should be penalised for not doing anything till is was well out in the open. I especially like Weightlifting drug policy at the Olympics - test positive the entire team from the specific country is banned. Certainly cleaned up their sport a bit....

Your argument falls down at the 1st hurdle.

The AFL sanctions drugs until you get caught / tested for the 3rd time.

Case closed. Move On. Next.
