Does anyone else have nightmares about what occurs in 3 years time

Retirement: Yeo, TB, Gov, and Kelly

It's euphoria for this year and possible next . But it's a very big nightmare after 3.

At least north had LDU but we don't even have an LDU to Sheppard the next generation mids

TB doesn't necessarily retire in 3 years - he's not even 30.

Yeo and Kelly are risks, we really need Ginbey and Hewett to be ready by then. We will also likely draft another top 10 mid this year.

KPF look set with Waterman breaking out, Allen already proven and Maric showing potential. Still have guys like J Williams and A Reid too. KPD look thin, but we can always develop some of the young KPF into defence.

The key to a successful team are A graders. A the moment (for players that have at least 5 years left), we have Allen and Reid. Waterman if he can sustain this form. Really need another A grade mid and a gun KPD. The mid probably comes from the draft (I'm hoping Hewett may already be it but far too early to tell), not sure where the KPD is coming from.

The role players we can easily trade/FA for.

The last bench spot ??? could go to a draftee or Burgiel/Dewar/HJ. Petch is a utility in this side who can play multiple roles.

With Buss off the table, Bazzo's development becomes a priority. Third tall behind Gov and TB is perfect.

Hunt and Chesser to add speed off the half back line. This is an upgrade on Cole IMO. Chesser could find more ball and confidence here also.

Duggan to be the defensive midfielder. We can't have his turnovers off half back anymore.

Darling can't start next year. Cripps to be phased out throughout the season.

Kelly to be used more as a damaging outside mid. Rotate him forward more.

The ruck remains an issue. I'd favour Bailey as his sole rucking has been sound over the last few seasons.

We need to get Brockman setting up/scoring more goals by season's end as I think he has a lot to offer.


Honestly reckon it looks like a strong starting spot for a new coach. Could be strengthened even further by any FA or trades we get in.

Add him to the list of emergencies just shows we should be building some decent depth by 2026.

I think the 2026 team is probably pretty similar to what we have for 2025. A chance we have Warner, and Allan + 1 more kid pushing for a more guaranteed spot.
Theyre probably the only changes we can predict imo
Ive added Warner anyway, if Warner isnt in the put Yeo back onball, put Davis on the wing and use Allan as a midfielder instead.

Davis feels ready made to me, big body and elite endurance, he could be in the side round 1 this year even.
Chesser I think makes it in the right role, which imo is that receiver mid with pace we want through the middle. He may not be elite at it but hes probably suited to it.
A chance Ryan and Kelly get pushed out a bit, Mini may not appreciate the lack of fitness or defensive effort they show sometimes.
