My young son has a day at training with the Junior Eagles members which involves a sausage sizzle etc on thursday and since I'll be hanging around I wouldn't mind taking my camera along. IS this something they normally permit during training sessions?? It is a big SLR with a big 200mm lens hanging off it so it's quite large!

Can I advise you to take a whole heap of snaps of Tony Notte? Camera is supposed to add about 20 pounds.

My boys will be there too Makka and I'm sure my wife/mother in law will be taking their camera, although not quite as large as yours! They had a junior Eagle coaching clinic earlier in the year and my wife took a heap of photos there, so they allowed it then, should be OK. :thumbsu:

I'm going more for my son rather than to watch them train but thought I'd see what I can capture anyway. He really wants to meet NicNat so hopefully he does and if I can get a photo of it he'll treasure it for life!

Thanks for the info guys. If I get anything decent I'll post them up here anyhow! :thumbsu:

What times is it at? Is it open invite for kids who are members (ie show my membership and they let me in)... or is it just an open session for watching but invite only for the kids training part?

Edit - never mind just rang the club... an open training session 2-4pm for anyone, with specific autograph session at the end, plus the mascot running around etc ... Rookie members get a voucher for a sausage sizzle but anyone can buy the suasage sizzle as well.

Haha...ok stop it now you're making me feel old!! :D

He's 10 years old, not that little I spose. Lives and breathes footy. He and his brother won an Access All Areas comp and last week got taken through the club rooms at Subi as well as had a training run with Embley, Barra, David Hynes and Brad Smith. It's always good to see the club doing these things and the smiles it puts on kids faces is amazing!

yer i won the access all areas thing 4 years ago
that was when mainy was doing it
great to see the inner sanctum

I was bummed. Unfortunately because of some behaviour of parents that had been there before we weren't allowed to go in and had to wait for them to come back out. But my young bloke won a cap signed by Woosh and Glassy. It's up on his wall now, still with the tags on! Our next premiership coach and captain!! :D

yer no parents went with us
some were trying to tail us in
i missed out on winning anything
but the experience was mint

how did it go seeing as it was yesterday

It was a fun day actually. The kids got so many autographs it wasn't funny. Everyone was in good moods. I'm really impressed with Glassy and how he goes about talking to young fans etc. He really does try and have a conversation with everyone. A really nice bloke.

On the training both Kerr and Cox trained freely and seem good to go. Watching Kerr run down the wing at full tilt was amazing. You forget how quick he is. NicNat seemed to have a quiet training session, mainly doing sprints early and then just watching a lot of the rest of the training. They all seemed pretty upbeat. Bones, Staker, Hunter and Waters just mainly jogged laps as expected. Some of the young guys were really putting everything into their training.
