Early or LONG summer

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

The heat continues into next week where I am at least - 42 on Saturday, 40 on Sunday, 32.5 on Monday and 34 on Tuesday. Bit of a drop but still very much summer weather.

No relief in sight

Friday Dry. Sunny. Min 23 Max 39
Saturday Dry. Sunny. Min 25 Max 39
Sunday Dry. High cloud. Min 26 Max 36
Monday Fine. Mostly sunny. Min 15 Max 28
Tuesday Fine. Sunny. Min 15 Max 30
Wednesday Dry. Sunny. Min 20 Max 36

**** that. Studying for exams in this heat, even with AC on is a pain in the arse.

You can add me to the list of summer haters as well. Im not a huge beach fan. You cant sleep properly because its still 30 inside your house at midnight.

Im going to NZ in January for 3 weeks so hopefully i miss the late summer heat wave this year.

I hear Wales is nice...i might move there!

bring it on I say, I work outside and yes, its a pain in the arse, but the after work beers taste better. There is also nothing better than heading down the beach round 6ish, having a dip, throwing in a quick line and catching dinner.
This. My part time job keeps me outside, but it just makes that dip in the pool or beer later on just that little bit better!:thumbsu: Not saying I absolutley love the heat, but it does get me more shifts at the pool, which equals $$$$$. If you've lived in Adelaide predominatley all your life, surely your used to heat waves like this, I know I am. If you don't like it, move to Hobart!

i'm going to Finland, 6 months of no sun.

the reason everyone doesn't feel like doing anything in this heat is because your not, once you get up and start doing stuff it feels a lot better, I'm just used to this weather! I love it. even when it's boiling I'd rather the fans on low, aircons just ruin it, woulnt want it any other way.

and if you would rather live in Hobart than here, why don't you just move there and stop complaining!! you all love winter so much, stop complaining whilst others enjoy summer, :D

Summer? The longer the better. I live on the beach. Bring it on! Not that I'm a real beach-goer...not into the whole wet sand in the bathers thing, or those f%^**$# sea-lice, or always keeping one eye out for large dark shadows. Just love looking at it and being there, loving the breezes and the interesting sights that the heat and minimal clothing bring.

Except for footy, winter sucks nads.

I used to love summer as a kid, even up to a few years back I used to enjoy it. The last 3-4 have been super uncomfortably hot though. Im no conspiracy theorist but I cant remember the multi-weeks of high 30s/low 40s weather back in school days etc.

But im just a winter head. Everyone has a favoured season. winter is mine.

I used to cope with the heat ok and i would say i got used to it working in a Fondray However the last 2-3 summers i have really struggled

OLD AGE ?

Funny that Macca19, summers when I was a kid lasted forever, and until the last couple/few years, always seemed to have longer spells of scorchers. But hell, tennis would be called off Saturday if it was going to be over .... some nominated temperature...which at the time I thought was too low a temperature anyways. It seemed like we only played half of summer it was called off so often. That used to crap me off no end, so mates and I would play anyway, zing off to a pool or the beach, and go back and play some more, then zing off to a pool or...Them were the days.

I remember 1973-74 I was a news boy down the Bay outside the St.Vincent hotel and during a heatwave the Temps for the last 24 hours used to make front page people use to line up waiting for me to start just to see them then they would hang around talking about them.

No fancy Air Cons back then just that water thing you use to pour water in the back to wet the straw and if you were further than 6 inches away from it USELESS.

On the up side there was 4-5 familys would meet at the beach around 5ish and have tea never forget the cool change came early once whole new meaning to the word SANDwiches and the seas went from dead calm to great waves in minutes

41 on Wednesday and Thursday:eek:! I have no high hopes for Friday and Saturday's weather being nice and cool. I used to like summer but the last few have been ridiculously hot.

it's still better than growing up in Whyalla.

I still remember the Crows falling dead out of the Moreton Bay fig in our front yard and my tool of a father who decided a family drive to Iron Knob would be a good idea one Sunday, I reckon it hit 51 under a tree out there. My brother and I would have to sit in the back of the panel van, it was like a sauna and would probably be classed as child abuse these days.

My grandmother had one of those water cooler thingo's, it's one of my vivid childhood memories from summer holidays in Penola, watching the cricket on TV sitting in front of that thing, she used to put home made lavender oil in the water t make it smell better.

When I went to school we used to get to go home at noon if it got over 38, I remember one year in the early 80's where they stopped that rule because we were missing too much school. We ended up out of the pre-fab class rooms and under the sheoaks that lined our ovals. We were one of the first schools to introduce mandatory hats in summer in 1981.

I was actually thinking of those straw water cooler things the other day. Funny stuff. I used to love it as a kid

You know what's great during the summer? Snips. Those chocolate triangular ice creams that barely cost anything (at least they were cheap the last time I bought one). No better ice cream going around imo.

We got to 47C last summer so I'm tipping a 50C day before the end of summer. This is a joke for this time of year.

3 weeks ago everyone was whingeing about the cold.

Dad would keep a bucket of water topped up in the fridge, just for the water cooler. He spent hours walking in and out of the house with a thermometer just to prove the water cooler worked. And didn't the fans in those old clunkers sound like a Fokker taking off?! Ha ha you are right. I loved those times too.

haha, your dad sounds like my grandfather. Defended that water cooler til the cows came home. nevermind he used to sit on top of it in a pair of slacks a white bonds singlet and a hankerchief tied at the corners on his head.

to be fair the other use for it was that the noise it made blocked out the noise of the logging trucks rolling through the main drag.

I wish someone would invent a time machine...
