The Swans trading motto according to Roos, is 'draft for the best available, trade for a need'.. We will be chasing hard for a quality KPP..

Tom Mitchells dad Barry has quit the Freo Dockers and moving to 'Melbourne' to be close to his son, so.... am I being paranoid? :)

You can't trade players before you have drafted them if that is what you mean lol. Although, you probably already know that:p

The thing with Mitch Clark is he is out of contract and I'm pretty certain GWS don't have a pick in the pre-season draft? At least GC didn't this year. So, hypothetically speaking, if we were to put a crazy sum on his head like $550,000-$600,000 I'm fairly confident no other club would be willing to match that so we would more than likely get him for free without having to worry about what would interest them in terms of draft picks. I certainly think we would have the cap space to pay him that if we were serious in getting him.

GWS can sign him as a un-contracted player and GWS have the first pick in the PSD. Freo would be willing to throw $500,000+ at him and you would not get him for free buddy so come back to reality. Freo could throw $650,000 if they really wanted to and so could we. If he goes to freo it will be for pick 16 and a sweetener or GWS as a uncontracted player or through the draft or PSD and we would get band 2.

Will never get a senior role, apart from coaching the Preston Bullants for a couple of years while at Cartank.
While on the trades, Jetta, TDL and Sumner all have to be looked as trade bait.

Yes you and I know that but I've heard Mitchell senior has a fantastic ability about self delusion in this regard.

Do you seriously think anyone will offer anything for Sumner?

Do you rate him, obviously a few clubs have him on the radar. He even admits that he had the wrong attitude early. Gary Ayers has turned him around thats for sure.

Keep in mind this is Sydney u18s, so no great feat but he was far and away the best player in the comp. He used to have the ball on a string and no one could get near him. In a game my mate played against him, his team were beating View by about 20 points, Lynch came on midway through the third and View ended up winning by about 25.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Just looking at Sportsbet, we're equal 3rd favourites to have Fev in 2012. Stranger things have happened...

Re: Brendan Fevola?

would love the big fev but unfortunatly dont think we are ready to challenge for a flag yet we are better off developing our young key forwards and try and get another class midfielder

Re: Brendan Fevola?

If BBBBH can kick 35 goals in his last 7 games @ age 34 with very ordinary supply, Fev can too. Forget his age, it's not a concern. He's very much the kind of FF that doesn't need to be able to run all day. He'll get the ball just on muscle and genius.

My only concern is what he may do internally. Otherwise, I say grab him. Rookie spot & minimal costs makes it worth it.

Hall was often frustrated as the Sydney key forward, and often let his frustration be known on the field. Fevola is even worse, and it's that negative on-field body language and attitude no one will ever be able to measure unless and until some team gives him a chance and plays him. By which time it's too late.

To me, it's not worth any risk at all.

The big difference is that Barry defended as well. Fev does sweet FA defensively. Barry would chase down guys rebounding out of the 50. Players like Fev don't do enough of the ball. Braddy on one leg was proving to be a liabilty in that area as well. You need to do more than just kick the goals these days.

I have heard them discussing Tom Hawkins and Sydney on 'on the couch'.

IMO, I doubt we will be that active. Unlike previous seasons, I dont think we are in a position to offer players spots in our best 22 (unless they are proven players) - plus pretty much any decent player who is willing to move to sydney is going to go to GWS.

two players I have always rated are bate from melbourne and thursfield from richmond.

Thursfield in particular is a little out of left field, but I think he has the agility and strength to be a very useful defender.

I was keen on Thursfield 2-3 years ago, and he seems to have come on quite well, is more of a physical presence than he was back then.
