People thought the same about Hawthorn last year. I don't see that much dissimilarity between their lists at the respective times. Saints didn't have a very good run with injuries and they were probably quite affected by the Gilbert/Riewoldt scandal.

Two totally different situations.

The Hawks won a flag as a very young side, they don't have that hanging over their heads. They're hungry and they're not haunted by ghosts of blown opportunities.

The Saints are a wreck. They've been a flag threat since 2004 and let themselves down time and time again. You can blame some of that failure on injuries, but the rest is just down to their inability to capitalise on the golden chances that have been right there for the taking.

Mark my words, this year was the final gasp before they drown and have to rebuild.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

fwiw, Sydney scouts were at the TEAC oval in Port Melbourne watching Fev take on Werribee in a final on the w'end, he had a shocker and got reported for striking.

Are you sure that they were there for Fev. Bloke called Warnock in that game who is available and would fit into backline very nicely

Nah I was just trying to get an uproar :) from some on here, pretty sure we looked at everyone as we will in all the VFL finals.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Adam Goodes gave a speech in Melbourne at a Mortgage Brokers conference a couple of weeks ago and there was a Q&A session following.

He was asked about Fevola and how bad it would be to have him at the club considering the no dh policy. His response was that he loves Fev, he's a personal friend and Adam would love to have him at the Swans next year.

I guess we'll see how much pull AG has with Horse.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

I'm not saying I want Fev at the Swans, but imagine if we did bring him to Sydney and if we did actually turn him around? It'd make our superb image even better and would make even more players want to come to the Swans.

I still don't think we should risk it, though.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

He's such a w***er. I think after doing what we did with Bradshaw, it's best to develop a three pronged attack of Johnston/White/Reid. I don't think our midfield delivery would suit Fev's style either. I won't be strongly against it if it was to happen, but I don't think our club is in need of him.

Hey guys people on the main board and our board keep mentioning Jackson to Sydney during trade week. I havent heard anything in the media to add any credibilty to this so just wondering if you guys have heard anything about this. The word is jackson for your 2nd rounder?

Personally I would be happy with that and he may suit your game style but I would still be suprised if its true.

Have not heard anything, but it doesn't make sense, we already have more than enough inside mids, why would we want another one, and lets be honest, the guys a tough guy wanna be spud, we would much rather play JPK/Hanners/Bird/Parker/Bolton etc

Spud is a bit harsh

However i agree that it doesnt make much sense.

No need or want for Jackson as far as I'm concerned. We have more effective players in our midfield. Certainly wouldn't part with a 2nd rounder for him considering how spot on we've been with our later picks over the last few years in the draft.

Maybe part with a later pick or a Moore/Bevan/Seaby type of deal, but he'd be depth. Seems like a bit of a prick though tbh, not sure I like him much.

Do you guys have a player thread that lists current contract status?

Are there any rumours of a player going to GWS?
I reckon a swans player would be very high on sheedys list.

I have a link but it's from another forum so that may not be looked upon too nicely.

According to the link (disregarding Bradshaw, Tadhg and Craig Bolton who are all retired/retiring), the following players are off contract at season's end:

Chris McKaigue
Byron Sumner (currently on leave from the club, status questionable beyond this year)
Dan Currie
Dylan McNeil
Nathan Gordon
Paul Bevan
Ben Haren
Max Otten
Eugene Kruger

I'd imagine Bevan could come under consideration from GWS. I highly doubt he'll be with us next year anyway.

Thanks.

I thought there might be a player of note that was poachable.
No luck there.

We don't have a list afaik however I can give you one.

2011
Nick Smith
LRT
Paul Bevan

Doubt we will lose either LRT or Nick Smith as we have plenty of salary cap space and they are required players.

2012
Reid
Rohan - 3 year extension signed til 2014
JPK
ROK
McVeigh
McGlynn
Bird
Malceski
Bolton
White
TDL
Shaw

So as you can see next year will be the one we need to lock up a lot of players, we do ave a decent bit of cap space though with recent retirements

I can't see anyone that is in our best 22 choosing to leave, but I suppose it depends what sort of cash is being thrown around next year.

Someone can correct me if I have missed a re-signing in the 2012 lot
