There is a kid from near Bright (Myrtleford) who played for Vic Country recently and he is gunna be a beauty as well.His name is Crisp and he is a tall running,tackling machine.We need this type who can play anywhere.

That's precisely what we don't need. We have enough jack-of-all trade players, we need specialists who can own a position and win it for us.

Everyone knew that Darling had star potential, although many thought he was a risk and he fell accordingly. Lamb may have been slightly less of a risk but has never had star potential. And, as usual, I can prove I thought this earlier and it is not hindsight. Posted December 3 2010:

No, in fact the very section you quoted says Darling had star potential, Lamb has not. That is not a judgment on who is (or will be) a better player. There are a number of players who slip in the draft that have star potential, but are less likely to reach that level. The 2 are not the same - for example Batchelor and Liberatore have shown more than Harley Bennell, but Bennell has star potential. Whether he gets there or not is another issue.

RE your kicking test point, I believe Gary Rohan was top in the test in his year. He is not even close to the best kick from his draft

I stand corrected, but it doesnt change my point in that it is still a lot closer to Melbourne than Sydney. Sometimes the lure of a brother playing in the same comp for another team can be a big lure. I honestly just hope we can keep Sam. He will be another Royce Hart. (quote me if you like)

It's actually not that different. 3 hours at an absolute maximum I'd say. He's closer to Canberra than either (at least as the crow flies) - maybe they'll both be GWS bound?

I disagree.This kid is taller than most and can play anywhere.We have alot of players around the 180 (even under) mark!!If we are gunna take youngsters I would go for this type as he is 17 and probably still growing and noticibaly can run all day.

We'd have to give up something good for Thomas but it would be worth it.

I think we're a full forward and a real quality outside midfielder away from the top 4. Thomas fills one of those pieces.

Dawes said earlier in the week that he will not leave Collingwood. Haven't actually heard an out of contract star be so emphatic as he was with respect to staying at the Pies in this climate of new teams and huge money being bandied about. He won't be going anywhere.

I'm not impressed by Dawes and I think he'd struggle as much as Jesse does with our forward 50 entries.

Contested marking is obviously better but I don't think Dawes has too many other strings to his bow.

Dawes is a much more naturally intelligent footballer than White. He instinctually knows where to go to find the ball and reads the play better.

He’s less athletically gifted than White. Dawes will not explode through packs but will use his growing strength to hold position, an area Jesse should be competitive but has struggled.

If were not going to be regularly hitting chests lace out any time soon we’d probably be better off with Dawes, but as he’s unavailable it’s all a moot point really.

After he and Didak got caught up in the drink driving incident Maguire said that it was the last chance for both of them. Surely if he's a man of his word, Heath will be moved on at the end of the season.

I know it's hardly a position we need to fill but he might want to come play alongside his brother.

Although stranger things have happened. Can't believe they got caught up in this. Especially considering the amount of money they get paid why would Heath put $10 on to get back $1k knowing full well how much trouble he could get in/ You know it's funny - i put $30 on Spangher last week to kick first goal knowing he would probably play forward. He was paying $67's. I wonder if there would have been an investigation if he kicked it. Who knows, they might have been showing the video of me walking into the Tab to put the bet on
