What about that young Vardy from geelong. He looks to be good up forward and can help out big mummy. I reckon you could throw some cash his way and lure him up sydney just like we did with mummy.

1. The last thing we need is another ruckman.

2. Geelong will not let him go with Ottens close to the end, Vardy showing such great promises and having already been burned by losing Mumford.

Our greatest need is a key forward. We either chase Hawkins first up or look for soeone less obvious. I wouldn't be trading Jesse White because he has shown that he can play the position but not with consistency. Lake is too old.
LJ is also a possibility.

RyanBathie playing in the middle of Geelong's VFL side's defence on Saturday looked very good. Ex-basketballer, took several contested marks, very big, strong, impressive, might be one to track through the season.

You have to take into account that Hawkins is the forward in an incredible midfield with the likes of Selwood, Bartel, Kelly, Ling, Corey and Chapman and prior to this year, Ablett. He gets incredible delivery from midfielders and still has never become a consistent influential forward.
Geelong would make you pay over the top too for the reputation and marquee-esque name he brings to the club. Not worth it in my opinion. People need to be patient. Reid and White will be our forward combination for the next ten or so years.

In my opinion, our biggest need is a line-breaking midfielder. Someone with a similar mould to Kieran Jack. I don't want a soft outside midfielder, we need a hard inside midfielder who can break through packs. We lack pace from in tight as seen through the Carlton match yesterday.

In all honesty, I think Stanton would be a perfect pick-up for Sydney. He'd give our midfield some pace and a good ball-winner. He also has the ability to kick three or four goals a game. I'd love to see him at the Swans.

Cattery would never let him go. Has shown a lot of promise, and far better (athletic, determined) than Hawkins,

Absolutely agree!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Would prefer Hawkins over Vardy to be honest. Hawkins could be the key-position forward that we need to take the next step.

I know this is all only opinion but I really dont understand how you can say that. Hawkins may still have potential, but to my mind Vardy has already shown much more ability and potential than Hawkins.

I can see at least one player of the Swans defense being moved along/traded at the end of the year...probably to the Giants for a pick or young player, I say this cause there's just so much depth back there with Heath, Spangher & LRT not being able to crack a game in defense (the first two you'd think are only going to get better so what happens when they push for selection?) HOWEVER with that said what about Jackson Trengrove from Port 20 years old and 197cm to give our backline some hight?

As for the forward line...I can't really see any big fishes coming up for the Swans to snatch.

Also, that bloke we're picking up in the draft this year (I think) will he be on $400k a year or $600k? Gotta think thats going to eat into the Swans spare coin.

First and foremost we need a genuine full forward and secondly I actually think we do need an outside midfielder who gets plenty of it. Mcveigh is meant to be that player but he has shown he is not the answer and I wouldnt be upset if he was used as trade bait.
We dont have any players who pick up 30+ touches on a regular basis ala Murphy, Priddis, Watson, Mundy, having said that I do understand these guys are elite midfielders and I have no idea how we would get onto one of these guys.
Regarding the full forward situation I actually think Hawkins could work. I personally think and I could be wrong that the guy just lacks confidence. He has so much pressure on him at the Cattery and every time he plays in Melbourne the pressure is huge and he is clearly struggling with this.

I have seen him play some cracking games of footy but these have been few and far between.

If you could get him away from all that pressure I really think he could flourish, dont forget the guy is still only 23.

Id love to see him in the red and white!

If I could pick any two players to play for the Swans next year, it would probably be Jack Riewoldt and Daniel Wells. Riewoldt at FF, Reid at CHF releases Goodes to a permanent midfield position. With Goodes, Jack and Kennedy in the middle, that frees up a Wells to wreak the havoc that he can when consistently fed by good inside midfielders.

But isn't McVanish supposed to be doing that job, what a waste of a top 5 draft pick for an average player.

Ablett and Franklin if I had a choice of two. Just get the best.
