Left-field suggestions: Mark Austin and Jordan Russell from Carlton/Bullants. Austin is a much bigger bloke than I'd imagined and he's been looking pretty good up forward for the Ants the past few weeks. Russell seems out of favour at the Blues.

Anyway, just throwing 'em out there ...

Re: Malceski to GWS ?

If this means that have their allocated Swans player and Sam Reid and Gary Rohan are off the table for 2013 than a dirty little rat I am.

I'd take it.

It would suck but I have to agree.

Anyone know his contract status? Pretty risky move by GWS if true with all his knee problems.

An article in The Age says we might be looking at Lindsay Gilbee and Josh Hill! WTF?

Dogs must think after we took Everitt:eek: that we'll trade for anything!

An article in the fairax press intimating the swans are keen on trade week

as to the bulldogs pair all it said was

http://www.smh.com.au/afl/sydney-sw...ye-trade-and-talent-tweak-20110917-1kf0x.html

Although the Swans should have a decent war chest after the retirements of senior trio Craig Bolton, Daniel Bradshaw and Tadhg Kennelly this year, the potential trade market is thin.
Lindsay Gilbee and Josh Hill are likely to raise interest as both are highly skilled and out of favour with the Western Bulldogs

not actually putting any fact to the story the swans are interested. just mentioning they are out of favour at the dogs and making it appear were interested by simply creating association of his own opinion in the article.

For opinions sake.

Hill: No, too lazy and we have a lazy medium sized forward already.

Gilbee: Are we hunting a flag next year? a fit and switched on Gilbee is sort of player to beat a press. If Malceksi is on his way out the door would consider.

Overreaction on my part.

Hill - will more likely get delisted by dogs than be traded.
Gilbee - 2 years ago yes, now no.

If GWS have signed someone from us already (Malckesi, Seaby, TDL) then I have no problem looking to trade other players in but if they havn't then we're going to need all the cap space we can get to keep Reid.

Despite essentially having a similar result to last year I believe we have improved, as shown by the contining emergence of our younger players. However we are still not top-four and I further believe we need more of the "x" factor: to get there before the heavy demands on Goodes as our continuing 'catalyst' takes its toll.

We really need more class in the KPP's especially in the forward line. You get that more slowly by development (Sam RIED) or by trading (Barry Hall). When you have little to trade you need to take calculated risks (Fev is not a caluclated risk!).

Seaby cannot get a regular game with us but as the Richmond match showed he can still play damn good football. Possible offer to GWS if Port continue to play hard-ball with Brogan.

If Adeliade play difficult with Tippett maybe we could sound them out on White. He is good for us but plateaued this year. He may improve with constant games but he may not.

I think calculated risks would be to go for players with known high abillity but serial under-achievers. If the price was within limits I would chase Michael Johnson from Fremantle and Scott Gumbleton from Essendon. Josh Hill could be looked under the same methodolgy. These are examples and bigfooty members undoubtably could name others and reasonably argue against the basis of my thinking.

It is based upon playing to our strengths which is our culture and proven ability to turn some players around. It is also based on the fact that you can teach a player skills and knowledge and give him motivation, but you can't give him natural talent.

Re: Malceski to GWS ?

Rohan is safe contract wise. I care more about Reid.

Re: Malceski to GWS ?

Yes.

Rohan and his family, including admiring young cousins and Rovers juniors Corey and Brayden Hawkes, might be separated for a while longer yet as the versatile Swan recently signed off on a three-year deal

EDIT: DW didn't know that was the weird warnapodsa isuhd stand thingo. I think he was mentioned alongside 4 other Swans who signed in passing in some article though. On the Swans website.

Don't think Russell is going anywhere and if he is we'd expect something reasonable in return considering he's a good player and contracted. Austin is on the outer and could be gotten on the cheap of you want, possible delisting. Has been injured mostly this year.

Re: Malceski to GWS ?

At the last two finals, a few people have heard that Mal is going to GWS. This would not surprise given his treatment near the end of the season.

I strongly believe this might be the case as he played seconds yet was supposed to be injured.
Based on form, Malceski plays ahead of Kennelly in those last few games every day of the week.
Something's up!
Expect more 'shocks' as we are the team most likely to lose players because the transition & relocation wouldn't be as big a deal, but the money on offer & security would be too great to refuse.

With 2 knee injuries, we may have seen Mals best.
