Sam Reid signed on yet?

Think you guys should be looking at White. He's the sort of guy you guys could work with, and it always seems if a player plays a blinder against a club, they're the first in line to secure his services, and my memory of White's 4-goal haul against the Blues comes to mind.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

I think Fev would be perfect for Reid's development. With no other force in our forward 50 Reid was getting ganged up on over and over.

With a fully firing Fev up front with him, all of a sudden Reid gets the #2 defender, little or no double teaming and becomes a hell of a lot more effective for us.

A full forward of Fev's ability takes us from challenging for a top 4 spot in 2012 to challenging for a premiership in 2012.

The potential payoff is massive, the downside is relatively minor. Unlike Brisbane, we won't have to trade anything for him. We'll pay him very cheaply. We tolerated Hall's crap for years because it made us a contender. Fev has the ability to be a key part of our next premiership team. IF we have the balls to take the risk.

How often does the opportunity come around to get a guy who could be the AFL's best full forward in his first season with us, for essentially nothing? How often does the opportunity come around to get a guy who could turn you into a contender instantly?

Imagine Fev kicking 6 on grand final day 2012 as we thump the Pies.

Fev is a risk, but a risk worth taking.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

I get the whole "culture" thing (And all that shit). But seriously, we're supposed to be winning premierships. Not be the "also ran" nice guys.

I say rookie the guy, put him on match payments, incentives, etc and see how he goes. If he plays well, all good. If he plays well and f@cks up off the field, send him to Canberra.

Think about how many games we would of won with another 3 or so goals kicked. By my calculations, another 6 wins. 18 wins... 4 losses.

Think about it.

The way footy is these days, it's pretty hard to get where you are or where he is.

That's an answer that I find concerning.

Pretty hard for Sam to get where Ben currently is,
Pretty hard for Ben to get where Sam currently is.
Pretty easy for a GWS raid to put them both together.

Could the whole Daisy\Swan\Pendlebury etc. bit have been a ploy to get Collingwood to chew up more cap space leaving Ben in play?

I don't like the way the AFL has gone about the GC\GWS team creations, and I esp. don't trust Sheedy!

Just reading in the Herald Sun about Chris Dawes situation and surely Collingwood are having salary cap troubles fitting all there stars in. With Craig Bolton, Daniel Bradshaw and Tadgh Kennelly all retiring surely the Swans could offer him 600,000-700,000 a year and give him a 4 or 5 year contract along the same lines as the Mumford deal.

Reid, Dawes, 2nd Ruckman and then Goodes floating around down there and that a very formidable forward line for next year!

Definitely in favour of pursuing Dawes. He wants to stay at the Pies but it must be getting to the point soon where the Pies have to release players due to salary cap pressures.

We don't have as much to interest the Pies as other clubs like Melbourne, Bulldogs, GWS (clubs who also are in need of a big power forward) however.

As far as interest goes, I think we might have something. Leigh Brown is there 2nd Ruckman and he is retiring, and to be honest, I don't think Wood is good enough to play week after week in that position. We have two options to give them, being Seaby and White. Throw in a draft pick as well and I think that is enough, especially when the player is out of contract and could simply the leave the club and go to the draft where Collingwood would get no compensation at all.

They would be getting a player in there best 22 who will play a role and another youngster in a draft where picks are scarce.

White + second round pick for Dawes.

Or White + second round pick for Higgins.

Doubt either club would accept that trade (Unfortunately...)

And unless we traded a Reid, Rohan or some young talent... We won't have the currency to trade for Dawes or Higgins...

I don't think we can afford to offer Dawes 500k - 600k if we want to have another space in the salary cap to offer Reid a deal to keep GWS away.

You know what I'm constantly forgetting?

That Andrejs Everitt exists, and is on our list.
Up until the other day I had forgotten about his total existance on our list for the last 3-4 months.

They have him playing in the backline with the ressies right?

What I found interesting Syd, was that he didnt give a straight answer.. Pendles also has been linked to GWS and he was asking the questions, it was almost like he was putting him under the pump just for fun.

On another note, drums have been beating that Seaby is being looked at (already gone). Good luck to him would be like winning the lottery and no offense to Seabs but what other rucks would actually be available? Is he?

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Is there another better full forward option available? A bargain one at that. One that we have a chance at? I really think a Melbourne team will take him with an earlier pick.
