EA's Early phantom Draft 2009 (top 6)

totally agree, however i still stand by what i say in regards to the pair. and for someone who has seen plenty of them you are yet to give me any reason to suggest otherwise.
Ahhh... how about WAFL form?

One has cemented his spot in the league team, one hasn't?

Lucas is the more highly skilled no doubt, but his physicality has been a real problem from what I have seen in the WAFL. I haven't seen the same issues with Morabito. Also real questions about Lucas' skills when it is physical. Turns to water on occasions.

No offence, but Peel are still shit.

I dont think it's a problem. Yeah he's a little undersized at the moment and doenst hold his ground in the contest, and can be subject to shoddy disposal in the contest but IMO this is due to his smaller frame.

It's going to be another year where clubs are going to have to weigh up the benefits of taking a ready made player, Morabito, over a developing, dashing young mid, Lucas.

When Lucas builds himself up I dont think he'll have too many problems.

As are Easts. :(

Yeah, but not as shit. Peel have some serious crabs floating around.

There top tier is good, then it falls away badly. If Simon Rosa and Mr Hammond werent there I doubt they'd win a game.

East's have a good spread of talent, solid young talent.

Every time Lucas has gone back to the Colts he has been BOG, so I think it is just a matter of adjusting, which will come with time.

Only real problem I have with him is his bouncing technique. Seriously ****ED up. Must be a basket ball player or something.

Not so sure about that.

They've lost Spangher and Kennedy and fallen into a canyon since. Pretty comparable I would have thought.

it will be interesting to see the likes of lucas, morabito, duncan, hutchings, sheppard play for their league clubs in the wafl from this weekend onwards. Out of that bunch i personally believe Kane Lucas is the best of the group, played a very good carnival at half forward showing that he has a strong mark along with very good skills.

Id say Colyer wouldnt be far away from playing to claremont league side too, he will be a fantastic third round pick for anyone. Especially fremantle since they have lacked pace in the midfield over the past years. Although i think he could be the stephen hill of this draft (the bolter) not pick 3 but perhaps top 20.

Looks like it's going to be a very difficult draft to judge this year, after the top 20 it could go anywhere. I was wondering what the general idea on a few of the NT boys was, and about where they would be looking at going at this early stage.

The ones I am mainly interested are;
Scott Taylor
Troy Taylor
Mitch Taylor
Charlie McAdam
Roland Ah Chee
Dean Gordon

Generally unless there is something exceptional about them, the NT boys are usually late picks or rookie picks. I'd imagine Ah Chee would be looking at somewhere around a 2nd round pick. And Mitch Taylor would probably be a late rookie selection. Not sure about the others.

Would be interested to hear some opinions, as I wouldn't mind a few of them at Fremantle next year.

Roland Ah Chee is definately the best talent the Northern Territory has this year.

Have my doubts about Scott Taylor, mainly regarding his pace and skill. Haven't seen a whole lot of Mitch Taylor but don't think he did nothing too much at the championships.

Troy Taylor would be a chance to be picked up at either a late pick or a rookie pick as he seemed to catch the attention of many with his performances at the championships. It will depend on whether AFL clubs will take the gamble on his off field attitude and what he has done in the past.

Wouldn't be surprised if McAdam gets picked up in the rookie draft or with a late selection in the national draft. Deon Gordon is not a bad player either, I wouldn't mind if Richmond took him with one of their rookie picks.

Doubt Panos will slip through to Carlton - especially if Port has a pick beforehand. Also it's Ben Cunnington not Cunningham. Otherwise pretty good effort.

Pick 33 North Mebourne - Robbie Hicks

If he goes this high I will be shocked. More likely to be rookied IMO

Remember a kid called Dylan Joyce or even Fort Caruso. Roughly same height as Hicks but a hell of a lot stronger body and better footy brains. Twice they player Hicks is and look where they ended up.

Personally think Bryce Lewis will be hoping for one of Trengove, Lucas or Stevens.

And in that order.

WA sides may want to take locals, but I dont think the Victorian sides will have a problem in snapping up either Lucas or Morabito.

i had a feeling about that. But i thought that Koby Stevens is such a good fit for you guys. A real at it midfielder and i thought you guys would like that more than a outside mid.

If Morabito,Trengove, Lucas are unavailable who would west coast pick??

the rise of ah chee has been great, i was going through some MGS stuff and he was playing seconds most of the time, now hes tipped to be a first rounder by many of yous. I still think he will be a second rounder at best. Maybe a third to fourth rounder, reminds me of michal walters.

Thoughts on Bradley Sheppard, will he get drafted? Every year there a few all australiands who dont get drafted. Like De Boer, Rockliff etc. Will he be one of them, cause lets be honest he didnt have a great championship

What about Bartlett? He was rated highly (top 25) before his leg injury how far has that lowered his stakes?

will be very interesting to see, surely he'll get picked up.

if not he'll get the Under 19 gig next year and should make a fair claim.

I agree, he is a fantastic fit for us, and would be thrilled to get him, he would team up with Ziebell excellently.

But still, Lewis has spent alot of time in WA, and would know Lucas well, he also picked the AA u/18 squad.

He will go best available imo.

The spanner will be thrown in the works if Melbourne dont pick Butcher at #2.

This year may be the first year in quite a few years, where picks 2,3,4,5 could literally be a combination of any, and arn't really clear cut.

Will be one of the best drafts in a long time for bolters/sliders I suspect.

Guys like Rohan, Tapscott and Griffiths could literally go anywhere, they might pop out in the top 5, or could last till the first couple of picks of the second round.

Stevens I can see being the Ziebell/Rich/Sidebottom of the draft, could very well go to North (and seems a very likely fit) at 4,5 or 6, or could very well last to someone like Carlton or Essendon at around 10.

Christensen will be a good pick up for someone. Likewise Gysberts. Both very likely to go top 10. on another note, If brandon Matera was to slip into next years draft, how high would he go. thanks in advance.

I have these two likely going to one of the bottom 4 or 5 clubs, in the second round.

These clubs will get the best value imo from this year.

After about pick 25+, and even to an extent after the first round, It thins out dramatically.

But in saying that, 5 years down the track, there will be some gems in the late rounds.

Your second round phantom draft had Chris Luff at Geelong, I doubt that.

I actually expect him to go to you guys, Carlton and Freo have shown alot of interest in him.

I know Wayne Hughes spoke to him on the phone friday after the championship final game on the wednesday.

As for us WCE if the above where gone Dustin Martin and Mitchell Duncan would be strongly looked at.

hope you don't mind me making a few points..
good effort none the less:thumbsu:

Not at all thanks for the comments.

and this is him.. I am a massive fan of Lucas.. one of few players to dominate in both Carnivals as a bottom ager and now this year as a top aged player. has all the attributes and has the added bonus of being able to play as a forward.. I personally don't have him far behind Scully

Also, thus i would really love him in Westcoast hands, plays a different role to Scully but i imagine we would be hearing allot more about him if was playing in the TAC and getting 25-30 touches a week.

Top ten. So a chance a bottom four side other than the GC could pick him up.

I would think that Freo would be more interested in Luff than us. We crying out for key forwards. Atm our forward line is O'hailpin,Fevola,Fisher. fisher may be put up for trade bait. So i reckon we would be looking at Butcher (if he slides:D),Panos,Fitzpartick,Carlisle and Griffiths. But i could see us picking a key defender like Luff or Tahila and playing them forward.

On the carlton board there saying we should get Cunnington:confused: i think we are still angry for passing Rich:p

HopeFully this is our situation on draft day.

1st round-Pick 11ish Panos,Tahila,Griffiths,Fitzpartick or a mid that slide ala Lucas:rolleyes:

2nd round- pick 27ish Carlisle,Griffiths,Luff,Duncan,Coyler,L.Jetta,

3rd round-Pick 43ish Coyler,L.Jetta,Pitt or Sheppard

Still eary stages!

Not to be too picky but Adelaide will not draft a tall early on in this draft. Matt Rendell has stated that he thinks the talls in this draft are rubbish bar the very early picks. This is why we loaded up on talls last draft (Davis, McKernan, Lee, Young and Henderson in the rookie).
