EA's Early phantom Draft 2009 (top 6)

Yeh heard Matt Rendell on radio say he thought this years draft was pretty thin, also mentioned silverlock and craig as a couple of players of interest to the crows. Suprised Alex Carey isn't being predicted to go a bit higher?? class act imo.

Talking to a few of the recruiters at Etihad at the carnival and they suggested that it will become a lottery after pick 20ish this year whereas last year the unknown came in in the mid 30's.
As a result clubs will be taking local lads beyond this point to save on unneccessary costs - shifting and parents flights etc.

Anyone see the Tapscott play in the carnival? Potential top 5 or just a first rounder?

i saw 2 games, i cant see him going top 5. i think he might even be outside the top 8 picks. when he gets it he uses it well and of course has that long kick, but for mine doesnt get involved enough to go top 5. but is another of those players that doesnt need the ball that many times to make an impact:thumbsu:

WC will win one more. Too many games that are winnable at Subi.

The player I was most impressed with in the carnival was Travis Colyer. His last game against Vic Country was incredible with Foley-like clearances and a couple of goals.
Just from the U18 Championship perspective I reckon he will bolt up the list. He may not be tall but he is extremely quick and seems to be a momentum player.

i will have a go:D:

Pick 5 Kane Lucas (WCE)
Pick 21 Lewis Jetta (WCE)
If WCE get these 2 with any of our picks I along with alot of others will cream our jeans..........

God I hope you are right.

By the way I still think Butcher will go No 1 even thou Scully has shown he is a better footballer only because their is a genuine lack of talls in the Draft and if Melb dont have pick 1 & 2 they will know that they can pick up another class Midfielder with their next pick in Trangove, Lucas, etc yet to get a KPP the calibre of Butcher in the next 3 drafts will be none existant and they wont let that cance slip.
They need a CHF more then any team IMO and butcher will compliment Watts. Plus they stocked up on mids and speedy wingers in the last draft.

Last year Watts and Rich were touted as possible No1 then Naita and Hartlett started making waves and the best midfielder in the draft fell to Number 7. Dont be suprised to see the same thing happen to Scully because of the draft situation.

If WCE and Melb dont win any more games they will get pp 1 & 2 And as a west aussie I would prefur to keep our first pick Home grown.
1) Butcher- Melb PP
2) Lucas- Wce PP
3) Rich- Scully
4) Melb- Trengove
5) Wce- Moribito
6) Freo- Panos
7) Nth- Rohan
the rest is pointless as everyone else is shooting for the finals.

melbourne and west coast wont get priority picks. Melbourne will beat freo and richmond/north/sydney.

It will go:

pick 1: freo - Scully

pick 2: rich - Trengrove

pick 3: Melb - Butcher

pick 4: West Coast - Morabito

pick 5: North - Lucas

it's pretty hard to see BOTH wce and melb getting PP. frankly there are too many bottom teams playing each other for that to happen.

i do like how u have richmond getting scully tho...what a steal at 3

i like that . tho i would like it more if freo go for a homegrown talent leaving richmond with scully. i mean, the conspiracy theory of the rumour from the scully camp saying that if freo gets pick 1 he won't nominate may just scare them off esp with the likes of judd and warnock returnign to victoria.

Seriously hoping that we finish above Freo, cause someone on here said woosh is keen on Morobito. I think everyone else wants us to get Lucas, as do I. I dont think that Freo will take Scully with their first pick, they will definately take morobito. Hopefully west coast take Lucas.

Agreed, I think its highly likely there wont be any priority picks from WC and Melb this year.

Look at the "winnable" games from the bottom sides in the run home, they play each other too many times.

Obviously there will be some upsets, and maybe a few of them will win some games against top 8 sides.

NM: Richmond, Melbourne, West Coast (Subi)

WC: Fremantle, NM (Subi), Richmond (Subi)

Fremantle: West Coast, Port (Subi), Melbourne (MCG)

Melbourne: Sydney (Manauka), Richmond, NM, Fremantle (MCG)

Richmond: NM, Melbourne, Sydney (MCG), West Coast (Subi)

WC: Should beat Freo at least, and 2 other winnable games at Subi, they should snag 1 of them imo.

Melbourne: The rnd 20 game shapes up as possibly being one of the most disgraceful in history. I think they could beat Sydney next week, but the other 2 are touch and go, either side could realistically win. 50/50 chance imo of getting the PP.

If that happens, think it could pan out like this.

1. Fremantle/3 wins
2. Richmond/3 wins
3. Melbourne/5 wins
4. North Melbourne/6 Wins
5. West Coast/7 Wins

In any case Melbourne's Rnd 18, 19, 20 will decide the vast majority of the order.

if melbourne lose out on a priority pick by 1 win i will be spewing. the club wouldnt allow that

if that is true about scully then it sounds like he is up himself, i wouldnt want him at our club if that is true
