Tell that to Laids who had a rather animated brain snap last year and told Brown he'd never play another game in the 1's.

Yet, here we are.....

In fairness to Laids, he was wearing a Groucho mask and waving an oversized cigar when he made said comments to Browny.

Credit where it's due.

He's also quite good at pointing.

Yeah, I have that nightmare too... that ghastly rhyme.

"The pointy Leighs, a pointy-pointy".

175 games.....and yet people can readily remember the good ones. It's not hard. There hasn't been many.

Now apply the same line of thinking to, say, a Spud (89 games) or a Harro (123 games).

The bar we set for this guy is so low it is officially scraping along the ground.

I'm sorry to be a downer, but the sooner his lovely eyes are a distant memory, the better.
I remember a game in which the Clinical Difference kicked 6 goals against Adelaide.

Indeed. 4 years ago wasn't it? I remember the week after that John Baird infamously carved up Reiwoldt. Where is Baird now? The exact same place Brown should be.

He is a lovely kick (sometimes) though.

It was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.:(

I'm not saying that hunger isn't important, quite the opposite. But I genuinely think that Brown has more hunger than talent. He must have a lot of hunger because he trains well and he was told last year he would never play another game in the 1s and then he's rushed in the team after a broken hand.
Also, the man could never be a superstar. You can't argue with that.

That superstar quote was referring to Wells not Brown.I should have made myself clear, sorry Big H.

Brown probably is a better player than either Watt or Hale but he is far less valuable on the field. We lose nothing from taking Brown out of the midfield because he adds nothing to it.

Watt is important to our defence match-ups and Hale is important as a relief ruckman (and in my opinion better tap than Hamish too).

Just because Brown hasn't been terrible on the wing doesn't mean there isn't a better option. We don't have a better option for Hale and we're struggling to find one for Watt so they both must stay. Bring in Mcmahon, he's not as big as Brownie but he takes a better grab, he's quicker, generally a cleaner disposer, and wasn't there an article about him being one of the fittest at the club now?

Correct, yet he draws three times the crap the other two get whilst the bloke that has picked him for all 115 odd games for this club is broadly recognised by many of the same people as a tactical genius.

And there it is.:thumbsu:

Maybe its because he is built like Tarzan and plays like Jane. Maybe because he was a No 5. pick in the draft and we traded pick 10 to get him.

But i agree with you. It amazes me how little the amount of shit Watt cops on bigfooty.

I'm sorry, but if we are seriously - SERIOUSLY - trying to push for a flag, then players such as Leigh Brown shouldn't even be considered unless he can hold down a KP. A 193cm (?) and 100k (? I think) bloke in the midfield who doesn't have natural, silky kicking skills or speed but is there plainly as a linkman is just pointless. Could Hansen do that role? I think he could.

Very valid point budge11. To have Brownie taking up a spot as a "pinch hitter" (pls hear me out) , but hasn't much to offer that hurts the opposition yet plays 20 games this season and then the club decide to delist him is just
derelict of future planning. How many games can we expect Hansen to play with already a few talls up forward, down back already in the team?

With the "pinch hitting" , each week I anticipate some "PLAYS" from Boggles but ... nothing doing for 4 quarters..

No wonder there are a few disenchanted posters banging on the BF door.. asking burning questions..

If it were I, as selector, I'd put it squarely on Brown.. get a few kicks & show us your worth or you're hitting the road ... with Hansen, it's more about getting him HUNGRY.

I tell you what I really want to see, that might make me reconsider my opinions about dropping Brown. I want to see him get the ball on the forward flank and run to 50 and have a shot and actually dob it. SO many times I've seen him do it, and he always misses. There could be 5 free players inside 50 and he tries it EVERY TIME and he misses so often... god that man pisses me off.

I agree with the general sentiment of this post, other than the bit where you say you've seen it "so many times ...". That implies he gets the ball a lot. Which unfortunately he doesn't.

It's all relative. I just meant it that I've gone to a lot of games and I can recall him doing the same stupid shit every time. As soon as he marks 60 out and starts to run, my automatic reaction is to cringe.

OUT: Brown, Watt, Hale
In: any youngsters that deserve an inclusion

those 3 are all pretty shit, and as bad as eachother
You can't take out Hale, he's a required player and Goldy isnt ready yet. As for Watt, I'm sure he's just warming the spot until someone else can come in. He leaks less goals than S. Thompson at the moment.
