are there many people out there that play afl 99 or 98. I played it quite a bit but it was pretty easy so it got a bit boring but I was wondering if there were many people who played the afl games?

GOLIONS!

i played the playstation one a bit- but got sick of it real fast. There is so much more they could do with the title, so it was a little dissappointing.
If youve ever played Madden 2000 (NFL game) you see how much more they COULD do with the AFL one.
ie- drafting trading players under a salary cap, watching young players develop and older players getting worse over a number of years, having all the different AFl stadiums- have night games, better stats records, better commentary, better more realistic crowd reactions, injuries, hot streaks, awards for best players, rookies- the list goes on forever.

Personally, I've *never* found a sports game I've liked. They have always disappointed.

Arch, is Madden 2000 worth buying? Even though it's better than AFL 99, which I haven't played, is it still worth it? A quality NFL game would be cool.

daniel- if you are any sort of NFL fan (which i am) Madden 2000 is MUST buy. The depth and variety of gameplay has kept me playing for months which is very rare for any game I buy.
It takes a while to understand everything if you dont know much about gridiron theory and strategy (ie what the different defenses/offenses are and when to use them etc etc)But you can literally watch real live games on tv, and put what you see into action on the game- its very in depth and highly realistic.
On the Arch scale of 1 to 10........
I give it a 9.5

Arch,

I'm a huge NFL fan so that sounds great. A couple of questions (I'll research it myself, but I may as well ask you anyway):

1. Is it on PC or Playstation?
2. Is it mainly a strategy game (hope so) or do you take control of individual players?

I've never found a sports game I've liked so naturally I'm a bit wary..

1) its on both.

2)There is a coach mode where you can just do the manager type role only if you want (ie not control the players at all- but its more fun executing the plays yourself i reckon), and an arcade mode which simplifies all the plays, but both are options. The Franchise mode is best coz you can play and develop your team over many seasons and actually get fired if you do bad, you can also dump your team and pick up another. Which is good- if your team becomes so good you never lose and it gets boring- you can pick up a dud team and try to develop it, and lead it to greatness.

ciao.

I was very dissapointed with AFL 99 its ok but way too easy. As arch said the list can go on and on as to how to make it better. I CANT BELIEVE THERE WERE NO STATS. Prolly the first game in EAsports history with no stats.
If anyone can shed some light on a new version AFL2000 would be appreciated, its closing in on 2001 so maybe they've bagged the idea of continueing with AFL, i hope not.
