Lawler in for Hagan
H Marsh in for Cleaver if he is gone.

We seem to have plenty of depth
Probably not in the rucking department with Goddard playing country footy and Strnadica playing Ammos due to work commitments. Have a few forward/rucks in Cripps, Simpson, McGuire and Dixon....but no pure ruck as such.....but the mids look good and deep, so all EF need is to provide a contest in the ruck.

Good to see Harry Taylor is back overseeing EF Talls academy - mentoring EF rucks and KP players.

ESSENDON has made some changes ahead of the Pre-season Supplemental Selection Period deadline on February 15.

The Bombers had been trialling Oakleigh Chargers ruckman Hudson O'Keeffe and Dandenong Stingrays captain Mitch Szybkowski across January, but the club opted to end those auditions last week.

Brad Scott's football program returns to The Hangar today after a five-day break and West Australian teenager Jack Cleaver is set to start training with the club.

The Bombers expect Cleaver to join their VFL program if he isn’t successful in securing a contract before the window closes.

Gee that's tough for Williams. Think Darling's injury not as bad as first thought, don't forget Allen is tracking well and the older Waterman is back from Essendon. Too late for any more last minute recruits till the mid season draft now....

I see Cleaver missed out at Essendon, though may be a chance for the mid season draft. All if's and buts.

VALE Jack Sheedy

The East Fremantle Football Club are saddened by the passing of Club Legend Jack Sheedy.

Jack loved his football, being around football clubs and would always give you the time to discuss the issues that laid ahead. A fierce competitor on field, but a wonderful gentleman off the field.

Club Legend, Patron, Life member, multiple winner of the Lynn Medal, Captain, Coach, Premiership player and gentleman.

Jack will be sorely missed and will always be remembered as a Legend of the East Fremantle Football Club.

Before my time but always heard a lot about him as a player and later. RIP

Yep sad news about the great man's passing. WAFL through and through, lived for the comp from all reports, bit before my time to like andana, but so obvious Sheedy bled both blue n white and black n blue.
Played a few VFL games when based there in WW2. South Melbourne ?

First scratch match coming up on the weekend. Both WP and EF have named pretty decent teams for it as well. Obvious missing selections from EF are Leggett, Boekhorst, Lester-Smith, and Dixon(reserves), with fringe boys in Smith, Tucker and Murphy not named in either the league or reserves line ups.

Both Marsh boys in, with Turner and Joyce in the midfield, good to see O'Reilly back from his injury woes, Cripps rucking with McGuire and a regulars in Baskerville and Murdock name on an extended bench.

Apparently 3 quick goals in the first 5 minutes of the opening quarter, then struggled to kick a goal after that. J. Marsh on report already, be interested to see what happened there.

Two close wins by the colts and reserves, so not all doom n gloom. Dixon kicked 1.4 in the reserves, so he will be an in this week v Cl.

WP obviously the team to catch, hardly get any injuries or player losses to the draft, thus enabling them to build a core group of experienced key players, and then add the odd talent in here and there.

So Marsh gets a week for that scratch match indiscretion....on top of that prelim indiscretion lat year which was a week...so won't be available till round 1....think big brother needs to have a quiet word with his younger sibling....

As round 1 edges closer, disappointing to see Cody Smith and Durack Tucker drop off EF list....both good sorts who have had a few injury issues of late.
Not sure why they are gone, maybe injury or moved on for better opportunities elsewhere.

Looks like EF finished their scratch match at 3/4 time.....Cl piling on 10.2 in the last stanza. Easy to think scratch matches are indeed that, but to stand still in the last quarter in both games to lose both, not a comforting feel.

Good win by the reserves though, with Leggett back kicking 3, and young ES recruit Ball kicking 3. Few things to ponder over before round 1 v Peel in a fortnight.....can only hope the rust had been removed by then and the boys switch on with 4 points up for grabs.
