With 46 players on our list.
Does this mean we will have at least 10 kids playing in East Perth's reserve's each week.
I think as part of the alignment East Perth, have to play 10 of there own players each week.
If so will hamper our boys development.
Hopefully the club can send some boys to play in Perth's league side.

East Perth on average would have had a lot more than 10 of their own players for most 2014.

If we've got a lot of fit and firing players then it will become an issue, especially if we've got second year players being held down in the reserves while players like Moss and Dobson run around at league level.

I didn't know about the terms of alignment with East Perth. Is that why Powell, Barass, Karpany and Maginness spent a lot of time in the reserves or were they just not up to League standards last season?

Barrass and Powell didn't really get started. Karpany and Maginness both deserved their league opportunities as the season went on. Just taking a balanced approach to developing kids, they shouldn't necessarily be rushed into league football. In saying that Waterman should be ready for league football, not all that sure he'll get a lot of playing reserves. Many of whom he played against two years ago as an underage player.

The real issue is if we can consolidate a good group of depth that stocks out the East Perth side, how do we go about developing young talent when they're hung up at ressies level.

If we have lots playing reserves, it's not ideal.

But the silver lining is that it means we will have close to no injuries.

It may also put more pressure on our blokes playing leauge for EP.

Its annoying in the sense that guys like mcginitty are gonna get games ahead of young talent.

Still I guess if they are performing and knocking down the door in the ressies they will get a shot.

I didn't realise that there was a requirement that east Perth had to play a minimum of 10 of their own players

Is certainly going to put pressure on places if there's a limited injury list

It isn't ideal but if we do have 10 playing in reserves it will give them insensitive to dominate so they get a gig in the league. It will also keep the players in the League team honest and not just cruise along. At the end of the day it is better they are at the same club learning the same plan be it in the reserves or the League WAFL team.

Lucas is a very sensitive guy, I'm not so sure my boy Kane can do that.

Doesn't this highlight the need for a stand alone Eagles team in the WAFL. Owned and paid for by the Eagles and not a half way alliance. Full selection rights and so forth.

I am not happy with the list below playing reserves.
  • Brophy
  • Adamson
  • Main
  • Cavka
  • Lamb
  • Nelson
  • Duggan
  • Powell
  • Barrass
  • Karpany

Both the Eagles and Dockers have a clear preference to each have a stand alone team in the WAFL. Problem is that doing so completely bastardises the integrity of the WAFL as a competition even moreso than the team alignments has done

A bit radical but I would create an new Eagles team and rename Peel as The Dockers (Peel have been an under-performing organisation in the WAFL for too long). The teams would be stand alone and owned and financed by their AFL team. That would bring it to an even 10 teams in the WAFL and eradicate the bye.

We could then debate the integrity of the WAFL and decide as to whether the Eagles and Dockers teams are allowed to be plating in the finals or excluded from the finals. Good points both ways.

There isn't a restriction. I had a look at the wafl site and a few times peel had less then 10 non freo players.

Midfield spots at east Perth might still be an issue though !

It worries me that we have first round draft picks, and practically our whole 2014 draft sitting in the reserves while a toilet brush like Mcginnity who's on the outer, will be playing league.

Seems the realistic outcome, though we'll have injuries in no time.

Yeah I can't see any more than 5 playing ressies any one week. Always at least a handful of injuries.

Regardless of how highly rated a junior they are, they have to earn their spot like everyone else. McGinnity is ahead at the moment only due to his seniority, but we all know his game is flawed so the spots there for the taking if they work hard enough to grab it.

I didn't get it the league team down to 10 East Perth players. Only 9. If anyone gets dropped back it would probably be Barrass early in the season.

But is this is probably the type of situation we can expect if he had a full 46 players to choose from come round 1 2015. Did i forget anyone?
