Rd7: East Side Hawks 10.9 (69) lost to Gumbies FFC 21.7 (133)​

Your boy Chipmunk set us up nicely with a chess problem that turned por_please_ya and Loonerty into queens, which was a bit of a drag in a match thread punctuated by several predictions of the end of season rankings of that other weird sporting competition. Then it was match day and as expected th3 bad weather rolled in with some rainy conditions (again) for everyone to splash around in and pretend to play qooty.

The first quarter started well enough, and a slim lead was held until roughly half way through the period. Then the Gumbies forwards nabbed two more, as did TY24. Unfortunately, TY24's were behinds and that's exactly where we were at quarter time: behind by 8. The second quarter was forgettable, so let's just forget that our opposition piled on 7 goals 4, and focus on the positives that were 11kgm extending his team lead in the goal kicking tally and Agent93 bagging a couple of straight ones.

The third term was.. nope! It was s**t too, we'll ignore that one and move right on to the final quarter where surely something better than eth-dog getting pants by last season's weird rookie who wanted to move to the Bombers as a joke. Ah yes, it was our highest scoring quarter of the match with goals from Loonerty, Snake_Baker, Milera2Betts, and SM which surely reduced the margin sli... nope! The Gumbies also piled on 6 more in a shootout taking them to 21.7 in the god damned rain.

The queens were best afield for the Hawks with Loonerty's 25 touches and a goal from the midfield being assisted by por_please_ya's 16 disposals and 8 marks from half-back.

Rd8: East Side Hawks 18.12 (120) defeated Gold City Royals 16.11 (107)​

Your friendly match reporter spent most the week in bed, so he has no idea what happened here. Apparently we won? Great! Apparently the midfield chopped? Even better. We still had a shitty third quarter? Ah well, can't win them all.

It's worth noting TY24 's move to the midfield where he discovered and then completely over-used the ability to handball, and also The Jesus marking his 100th Sweet FA game by basically skull-******* his opponent with 25 disposals, 18 hit-outs, and 3 goals. Itsmyshow also found a way to carve his initials on his opponent's forehead with a massive 18 touch, 8 mark and 2 goal performance. Really, this couldn't have happened to a nicer team than the Royals.





Hawks Notes

• The Hawks 1-6 record after round 7 is the club's worst start to a season on record.
• Against the Gumbies TY24 incredibly had five shots and five misses, whilst Agent93 had 4 straight goals. 11kgm is still the club's leading goal kicker.
• NinjaSwan clocked up his 50th game for the Hawks in round 8.
• Also in round 8, SM kicked his 200th career goal.
• And, as mentioned elsewhere The Jesus played his 100th SFA game.

Hawks Trivia
The answer to the Round 5/6 question was Round 8 in Season 26, meaning I've just marked 5 straight seasons in charge. Best afield that day was S25 EKA winner BLERN, in a 13 point loss to the Gumbies.

The round 7/8 question is as follows: owing to the current dearth of goals for the club, can you name the two seasons with the lowest goal totals to win the club goalkicking award, the players who won it, and their goal tallies.

Also for the futurists - how likely is it we see a change in the above at the end of this season?
