Back in form and 4 goals each for the dynamic duo PhenomenalV1 and Itsmyshow

We snapped a four game losing streak with an impressive win against the Swamprats.

Before the game, we went for a morale boosting trip:

(we're not sure who that is, answers on a postcard)

The trip had the desired effect. It was a cagey opening, trading goal-for-goal and we ended the first quarter 2 points up. The first goal was by Itsmyshow , which was so good it made the sim quote hip hop tracks:

1 : 4.54 {FB} - jackster83 signals for his teammates to present.
1 : 4.58 {FB} - An underground handpass to ant555.
1 : 5.02 {lBP} - Sees Firestarter out of the corner of his eye.
1 : 5.06 {lBP} - Top mark - not paid.
1 : 5.1 {FF} - Itsmyshow has it. What can he do with it?.
1 : 5.15 {FF} - Itsmyshow from point blank range.
1 : 5.19 {FF} - Can he kick it? Yes he can.

East Side Hawks : 1.3.9

He scored 2 in the quarter and was assisted well by a goal by Milera2Betts.

But it was the second quarter where we really shone. 5 unanswered goals in one of our best quarters all season. por_please_ya was accumulating disposals like they were Easter eggs on a hunt and PMBangers was tackling anything that moved. However, we had been in promising positions before, so the 34 point lead at the break could easily be recovered. The Captain team talk make that clear!

To the delight of the fans, the Hawks responded. Some stout defence meant that we maintained our lead. Despite a rally by the Rats which cut the deficit to only 2 goals in the final quarter, some crucial goals by Chipmunk , PhenomenalV1 and Biggie pushed the game beyond sight. We won!!

There were some fantastic individual performances - PhenomenalV1 (league: 10th top goalkicker) and Itsmyshow both scored 4 goals, PMBangers had 13 tackles and 6 FF(league: 8th for tackles) and por_please_ya 32 disposals (league: 7th for disposals). Hate had a rucking masterstroke, passing duties to Golumless so he could get 27 disposals and 4 FF himself.

If we can back this up against the Demons this week, we can look up and into the 8. Enjoy your Easter week everyone!

• In the past two seasons Golumless was good for one or more goals per game. This season he's on track for half that.
• In the seven rounds preceding SM was averaging a DT score of exactly 75. In round 8 he scored exactly 75 DT points. Delicious.
• Speaking of SM: excluding him, the entirety of our midfield have had more goals kicked on them individually, than our centre half-back eth-dog.

Bottom of the ladder and needing to resurrect this season

Another loss means we have lost 5 of the last 6 and at the bottom of the ladder. Looking at the stats it appeared that we were outfought in the tackle count, which was part of the reason for the loss and there will be some extra defensive training sessions this week.

After our win last week there was an element of cautious optimism in the camp:


Our first goal by Itsmyshow was a great team move, involving that rare thing - an underground handpass!

1 : 2.3 {lHFF} - Passes to Itsmyshow by hand.
1 : 2.3 {lHFF} - Itsmyshow loves a shot at goal.

Mount Buller Demons : 1.0.6

It was a high possession game but one where inaccuracy cost us again. The Demons always had a lead and even 33 disposals by Biggie and 31 by BOG por_please_ya wasn't enough to stem the tide. Special mention to Zoops with 27 disposals. We conceded 20 goals and now have a low %, we'll need to go through finals by points like we usually do.

Next week is the Dragons, hopefully an Easter break will reinvigorate us for the second half of the season.
