The ladder was close and to keep things in our own hands we needed to win. It was larrikin 's 400th game on the East Side though! We had asked NinjaSwan to do the maths for us:



As for the game itself, we had a fast start, scoring the first 4 goals . Itsmyshow was a man on a mission scoring 2 of them;

1 : 1.45 {FF} - Itsmyshow has a paddock.
1 : 1.51 {FF} - He takes the opportunity to bounce.
1 : 1.55 {FF} - He has a shot from nowhere.
1 : 1.59 {FF} - Hard work pays off for Itsmyshow. It pays six points.
East Side Phoenix : 1.0.6
Coney Island Warriors : 0.0.0

Of course the Warriors came back and the game was a very close one. At Half Time they had a small lead and at three quarter time they had maintained that lead. As scored filtered through from the other games, it was clear that a big last quarter was needed.

The Warriors had clearly put a hard tag on Itsmyshow , but they didn't count on our secret weapon, Shermy popping up for a goal to give us the lead! This, combined with 2 from thewizardmelon and even Zoops and Agent93 joining the party meant we were there.

por_please_ya was BOG , winning her ruck battle and having 24 disposals, then her and SM got 5 tackles and 4 FF.

8th place means we're up against the Wonders next week. Will we win?

We made finals! So our first task was dealing with the Wonders at The Colosseum. A difficult task but when we arrived we had confidence and time to take in the sights:




As for the game itself, the Wonders scored quickly but it was the in-form Itsmyshow who replied:

1 : 2.42 {FF} - SSwans2011 will take this. No - he's dropped it.
1 : 2.44 {FF} - A bit of space for Itsmyshow to utilise.
1 : 2.48 {FF} - Itsmyshow takes a bounce and nearly fumbles it.
1 : 2.52 {FF} - Itsmyshow eye's the goals and has a shot.
1 : 2.57 {FF} - And the ball bounces through - unbelievable.
West Coast Wonders : 1.0.6
East Side Phoenix : 1.0.6

5 goals in the first quarter allowed us to have a 2 goal advantage. Despite a mini comeback, we maintained that lead at half time, with former players Loonerty and Golumless scoring against us (tsk)l

A high quality quarter followed, with both teams showing why they had made finals. 7 goals and only 2 behinds, we ended up under a goal ahead. And it was looking all over for us as we fell 3 goals behind in the middle of the final quarter. We needed to channel the spirit of our game against the Rats:

15.38 - Goal to Milera2Betts (ESP) - WON by 10 point(s).
19.25 - Goal to Drunkgoliath (ESP) - WON by 4 point(s).
24.47 - Goal to NinjaSwan (ESP) - ESP by 2 point(s).

So we reach week 2 for the first time for a long time! MannumPower , returning to the ruck, was BOG with 23 disposals and winning the ruck battle. por_please_ya made 7 tackles and the matchwinner 6. Goals were shared around and this was a great team effort.

The Furies are next, but we are now on a 4 game winning streak. Long may it continue!
