New Jersey get the all important first game of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals with a 97-93 win. Pierce turned the ball over 8 times and Walker shot just 6 of 20. Probably two reason why they lost. K-Mart apparently had his way with Walker all game.

Looking forward to actually watching some games tomorrow with a double header, one of the games being the opener between the 76ers and Pistons.

K-Mart deserves credit for getting his act together. Last year, he was forever in trouble. It doesn`t appear to be the case, though I haven`t seen a lot of NJ recently.

I hope NJ sweeps Boston. Can`t stand the Celtics!

Detroit got over the line, with Rip playing well and Billups picking up a bit of an ankle injury, I think.

I saw the replay of that ankle injury...it looked REALLY bad. Havent heard much about it apart from what I saw, but from the vision, it looks to me like he will miss some games...but you never know with rolled ankles, he could be fine for game 2.

If he doesnt play though, the Pistons are in trouble, he is half of their scoring, the other half is Rip. Defence alone wont get them by Philly without Billups offence.

Snow may miss which will put more pressure on Iverson to do everything. That could be a could thing or a bad thing depending on how he`s defended.

What's wrong with Snow?

Billups would be the bigger omission of the two if they both didnt play. McKie can come straight into the mix for Philly so they have options and of course Iverson can just score more if he wants. But Billups 20+ppg will be hard to cover for the already scoring impaired Pistons.

On another note...Walker is officially K-Marts bitch. Nets easily take care of Boston in game 2 which turned out to be the Richard Jefferson show. The Truth managed a triple double but without Walker helping out then the Celtics wont trouble the Nets.

Pistons 104 - Philly 97

How mad is Tayshaun Prince? He's a player.

Now, with Billups out, I thought the Sixers were a real chance, but Chucky Atkins stepped up!
Every time I see Atkins getting decent starters minutes he does a top job and it seems like he didn't disappoint this arvo.

Oh, and Kenny Thomas outrebounded Benny Wallace.

Detroit are good. ;)

Prince was unstoppable!! :D

Just watching that game, you understand just how good Detroit are defensively. Iverson in the second half barely got a look at the rim and all the shots he took were bad shots. For a while, Thomas, DC, McKie and Snow were keeping them in it but they aswell as the viewers watching knew that they could only keep that up for so long before AI had to step up. Unfortunately for the 6ers, the Pistons were too good defensively to let Iverson into the game.

Danger now for Philly. Must get game 3.

NJ have their way again. The brooms are coming out.

Whether the brooms come out of not makes little difference IMO. Once a team goes up 3-0 the series is all but over. No team in history has ever come back from 3-0 down so the series is pretty much over, sure their is a first time for everything...but the Celtics with 'Toine playing like that....I dont think so.

New Jersey will await Philly or Detroit. Philly must get game 3 or it's almost a NJ v Pistons lock.

The key was getting a more even contribution. Iverson will always get his points, but with the likes of Thomas, Coleman and@Van Horn involved, they were always going to stretch Detroit.

The New Jersey Nets Swept the Celtics 4-0 with a 110-101 2OT victory. They are looking the most impressive of Eastern Conference Finalists, and should provide greater competition than last season. Not that that will be hard.

It seems to me that if indeed the Nets progress to the finals, they don't stand a chance against anyone except the Spurs. Don't ask me why, I just think that Kidd and Jefferson have enough over their respective opponents to swing it.

Maybe, but while other teams are slogging it out at 2-2, they`ve swept the Celts and buy some time to get over any niggly injuries and prep for the next challenge. I`m not prepared to write them off.

Great to see Iverson and 76ers get back even with the Pistons. Game 5 always so pivotal. If Van Horn, Thomas and DC continue to get involved like they have been doing I just dont think Detroit will have the answers.

Whoever wins that series though will have an awfully tough time against the Nets. K-Mart looks to have come of age and is now a formidable one two punch with Kidd. Easily swept the Celtcis, who really need to make some key additions to that squad if they expect a championship.

Just a quick question about the Nets. Could they be a serious threat this season?

All year it has just been, Kings or Lakers...now with both of those teams on the edge and with New Jersey being so impressive, is it impossible to think that the Nets could in fact win the title against say Dallas or San Antonio?

I think they have a shot against either of those teams but should the Lakers or Kings regroup and make it to the NBA Finals I doubt the Nets could handle them.

Any takers on the Nets?

look two posts above for your answer. The Nets are as good a chance as anyone. Still, no easy games anymore. assuming Philly get through, they are a dangerous opponent.

Yeah, at this time of the year, everyone who is left standing has a huge shot at the title. Philly are now on the edge, down 3-2 but if they can get out of that series and by Detroit, they could trouble the Nets.

The Pistons are a great defensive unit but only in the half court set. Jersey loves to run and once they get out in the open floor, not even the best defence in the league can stop them.

New Jersey are a definite chance IMO...strange to think that though given how strong the West is and how all year long we have ragged on the East for being so weak compared to the West.

Still a big ask.
