Has anyone got tips for this weekend?

Eastlake to beat Ainslie in a tight one...

Tuggeranong to beat Belconnen... Pocock will kick a bag

Swans over GC at the SCG... will be a good clash...

Who is the early call for Mulrooney and leading goal kicker?

Did not get to Tigers game on weekend. Must have been a huge improvement by Magpies but not enough to get their posters back.

Can anyone explain how Qbn play Belco 3x before they meet Eastlake?
Didn't see the first game but was there on the weekend.
Belco must have improved and they played with plenty of spirit and a fair degree of skill.
The Tigers looked as though they were waiting for it to just happen and as we all know it never just happens in footy. The skill level was at times ordinary and you didn't need to be in the rooms at half time to hear the instructions given to the players and the term "old fashioned bake" would be an apt description.
It took an act of old fashioned G & D from Wes to hit a pack at speed and move the ball forward to get the team going. Seemed to be a few just along for the ride and it didn't resemble a team who thrive on being labeled as a tough, hard side.
Kav was very good and easily BOG. His work rate is outstanding with him taking at least 5 marks between wing and back flank offering an option for the defense.
Others did their bit at times but if that effort is offered up regularly then there will be more losses than wins to come.
Have absolutely no explanation on why the Tigers play Belco 3 times before they play Eastlake, its just the draw.

one 4 the road; if it was as good as Gormo's at 1/4 time Tuggs/Ainslie then it was a beauty, it's been a while since I've heard an onfield address when on the way to the "little room." And that one worked a treat as well, for a while!!

I don't think there is too much wrong with giving it to players every now and then.
Its just another area that has changed so much over the time, must be constructive, must be gentle, what a load of crap.
We play a mans game and sometimes men need to be told that what they are doing is not good enough. I know I will get howled down but don't give a rats a$$. Toughen up boys and grow a pair.

No, that's a fair call, but sometimes the repetition means losing its effect. I remember playing under a bloke that when you'd walk in at half time you knew what he was gonna do and say, queitly for the first minute then scream, and don't forget to show "passion" in belting the blackboard!!! The other half forward and I played a version of "cliche lotto" on when and to whom certain quotes would be aimed. All good memories except when you were on the end of a front and centre verbal weather report. But, yes, we seem to be still moving with the politically correct handling of the players, Stan Alves has a lot to answer for!!!!!

I agree that a good old fashion spray has merit but as Watcher rightly mentions it needs to be done at random.

For some it fires them up, for others they believe it a personal attack and sulk.

Unfortunately to many of todays footballers are precious and a coach needs to wear so many different hats and one glove does not fit all.

They dont make footballers like they use to, todays footballers are spoilt with their environments both on and off the field.

I agree ABH...........you only have to look at the QBN changerooms to realise how spoilt we are these days

Well folks, it's that time again. Time to point you to good ol' flickr, and invite you to enjoy some footy photos. I have just uploaded the first half of Round 6 Hawks v Ainslie:

A little background for the people who don't know who or what I am. I've been photographing the (AFL Canberra) Hawks since 2006. In 2007, 8, and 9 I was the AFL Canberra photographer, and covered two games every weekend. Last year it was just the Hawks again. This year, well who knows...

While at the moment I go only to Hawks games, once there I photograph Footy; so if your team is playing then there'll be photos of them. Many of the photos are little more than happy snaps, but I know from experience that many viewers prefer a lot of photos of the game as it unfolded rather than just a few super shots.

Finally, my images are for your personal viewing pleasure. They are copyright Andrew Trost. Just because it's on the internet does not mean it's a free-for-all! Unless you have made a formal arrangement with me, don't put them on your club website or on TV or sell copies at the game. I don't get paid to do what I do but I do send out cease-and-desist letters. Feel free to put them on your personal facebook page, but please give a nod from time to time to the bloke who loves photographing local footy. :)

Not sure if your being sarcastic but if your referring to the main changerooms then yes its a far cry from what they were back in 94 when I arrived.

If your talking about the visitors rooms, why the hell would you make the visitors rooms comfortable.

Neve give a sucker an even break.

Fantastic stuff Andrew, keep up the good work

Giants gave the Lions reserves a good run for their money today. 14.17.101 to the Giants 12.14.86. Only 15 points. We played very well exept for the second bit of that 2nd quarter we're we had an 19 point lead and it turned into a 20 or so point deficit just before HT. But apart from that little bit of the game we played as well as the Lions, if not better by the sounds of things.

Ainslie ran away with the 4th quarter against Eastlake. 8.9.57 to 14.10.94...but was close til 3QTR time

The 'Premier Club' go down again. Is that defeat in their last 4 games v Tuggeranong?

At least in the old days when they were crap they were made up of mostly locals. Now they are crap with a whole load of recruits who are actually getting paid money for the garbage they are dishing up. How embarrasing. Bring back B. Read?

Just looked at this weeks fixtures on NEAFL.com.au

Is this weeks game at Greenway -Tugg and Eastlake really starting at 6pm?
What are the lights like?
There will be frost on the ground by half time?

If i remember rightly they played a game against each other at greenway in june last year on a Wednesday after their game was 'washed out' earlier in the year and the conditions were great... the lights are quite good at greenway, except when the footy rolls down the hill!

Correct Elong, you need a couple of good torches down that southern end in the trees!!

GWS should win...but they have these patches in their game where for about a half a quarter and the other team just dominates and gets back in it. Happened with Lions last week and Queenbayen this week around the same time

Wow, what happened out at Greenway last night? 11 scoring shots to 3 in the last quarter!!
Must have been a great fightback by the Hawks! But must big a big worry for the Eastlake coaching staff given they only have one win.

Pretty average game at Manuka today. Both teams were pretty scrappy with ainslie eventual winners 10.18 78 to 7.10 52. Neither team was able to assert any real dominance and the game was marred with skill errors and ainslie's inaccurate kicking kept belconnen in it. Raadts will have a case to answer for his tackle on I. Lawless. That would hurt belco even more, and considering they are still winless, it would be a pretty big blow for a pretty average team.
