Eastern Ranges by a point!!!

Eastern Ranges won their first premiershpi by defeating the Calder Cannons by a point.

Was an awesome match, the lead seesawing in the last half. Eastern kicked 3 goals to 4 points in the third quarter to wrestle the lead back at three quarter time before Calder kicked the first two goals of the last quarter to be in front by 11 points. Enter Stephen Dinnell. Kicked two awesome running goals from 50 metres out to put the Ranges in front and thats where they stayed. Also won the medal for BOG.

Stephen Dinnell - the most exciting player ive seen for about 6 or 7 years. If this kid doesnt get drafted then its a travesty.

Unbelievable match!! Congratulations Eastern Ranges

Stephen Dinnell - what can i say. This kid is a superstar. 2 50m running goals in the space of 4 minutes to win the match. Not only that but he got about 27 touches too - most of which were very damaging. He is very small...but i cant see that as a hinderance - he is awesomely quick and has very very good foot skills. Expect him to be drafted.

Greg Edgcumbe - Got the Ranges back in the game with 2 goals in the third quarter. Very smooth midfielder/flanker.

Sam Rudolph - i like the look of him. He is fairly tall for a midfielder and has pace and a kick to rival Stewy Dews. Plays a bit like Ryan Lonie i guess except a bit stockier.

Leigh Treeby - Looks like Buckley, Plays like Buckley. Hard and skillful with a readymade body for AFL football. He could basically walk straight into an AFL side and get a fair bit of gametime as his body would be up to it.

Nick Malceski - played a very good last quarter.

Michael Edwards - long kicking pacey midfielder in the Ryan Lonie mould as well. Kicked 2 very good long goals.

Cameron Cloke - big log of a kid. Played alright. Very very slow tho. Reminds me of Steve Mckee a fair bit in how he looks and how he plays at the moment.

Jarrod Fearon-Brown - very good key defender who didnt give his opponent an inch today. Very good kick too.

Brock Mclean - this kid only just turned 16 so is too young for this draft but he will go very high next year if his grand final today is anything to go by. 2 goals for the Cannons and he looks like a skillful player.

Ryan Crowley - long striding midfielder with a booming kick. Very skillful.

Travis Jorgenson - another key defender who played very well for the Cannons.

Tom Lonergan - a CHF type who played well early taking some good marks before falling out of the game.

Daniel Sipthorp - pacey skillful flanker/midfielder.

Jay Cheep - short but quick midfielder. Sorta like Clinton King/Shane O'bree.

Michael Christian just said something along the lines of him playing a big part in the Ranges comeback but it was probably because of the whole Cloke/Collingwood connection that got him a mention over the rest of his teammates.

Steve McKee? Don't say stuff like that man.

Stephen Dinnell - I told you the kid could play!!!!!!!! :D

That is why I'm so excited about him, he does things like that every week.

I though Ryan Crawford played the best game I've seen from him. Used in a tagging role on a very good player in All-Australia Kade Simpson and touched him up. Still not convinced on his disposal but his hands were clean and he may be better suited to a negative role.

Lonergan showed promise before the rain came. And Treeby's inside work rate is fantastic, he must have laid 10 tackles today.

Well done Ranges - quite a few of them (including perhaps the coach) will be at Box Hill next year.

was very impressed with tweeby a type of player the tigers need.
a good sign of a player who can perform under pressure and certainly dinnell would have done his draft prospects no harm at all.
a great game the way GF,S should be played and congrats to both sides for a great game.

cheers!

Macca, you must be talking about Jimmy.;)

Woohoo! I saw the match on Fox, very entertaining. I jumped on the Ranges backwagon after hearing that they hadn't yet won after being in it 3 times since the TAC beginning in '92.

Congrats Rangers and thanks for the entertaining lead up to the AFL GF.
