Comparing possessions probably isn't really the stat to be looking at. But for someone who is apparently quite good overhead and who plays at half forward these stats are more telling.

Lynch: 6.8 Marks; 1.2 Goals
Kennedy: 6.4 Marks; 2.5 Goals
Lecras: 4.2 Marks; 2.2 Goals
Nicoski: 3.0 Marks; 1.6 Goals
Darling: 4.5 Marks; 1.0 Goals
Ebert: 3.7 Marks; 0.6 Goals

Now obviously all but Darling are older more mature players, but still, those are some pretty pathetic figures for a half forward.

Watch the Geelong game, get back to me about his overhead skills and willingness to put his body on the line. To quote a living legend, there are none so blind as those who will not see.

That being said, he didn't do enough last week to earn a spot in the 21 (arguably the 22) and McGinnity has to come in to a full time spot, so if Ebert is the one to make way so be it.

If he is the 4th tall marking forward shouldn't that mean that he should have a 4th string defender and be marking all over him? There's no real point having a 4th tall target if he isn't taking marks. We would be better off with another quick small.

Well no because the ball never goes to him.. I do agree we would be better with another small though.

But I also think Ebert will be a fine player and very valuable when Embley and Lynch retire and/or if Nicoski's form drops.

McGinnity will get a full game this week, we will need him against one of Carltons small forwards and when he came on against the Pies made an impact. In fact I noticed McGinnity more in a quarter and a bit than I notice Eberts entire game.

Unless an injury forces more changes I see:

Kerr comes in, Ebert is out IMO.

McGinnity starts and Gaff is the sub.

Why is he getting a game week in week out.
What has he done over the last 12 weeks to even deserve a spot in finals.

Has got to be dropped this week because he was again invisible against Collingwood.

Kerr, Rosa coming him and he should be first to go- Is a weak link and has been for most of the year.

What ! Haven't you got anybody else to pick on.
The reason he gets a game is because the people who select the team know what they are doing and know how he measures up against the task assigned him.
I thought that you would have learned a lesson in questioning Worsfold and co.
Back off and give the kid a break.

Bottom line is that once in a blue moon he often pushes forward and takes a grab and can kick a goal yes, sometimes in very important situations, like against the lions? Anyone remember that? Very important goal. He threw his body around totally against Geelong and was a star, i think one game he was a very good sub and ummm... Against the tigers he played the game of his life and got 5 goals or something.

^^ For things like that, he should be congratulated.

But most other games (not all of them, just most), whether the eagles have been cellar dwellars 08-10 or exceeding expectations in 2011 he has been sub par. And just the once over this period (this year from memory) he has been dropped. Despite having horrific disposal and constantly being a passenger.

I'm not here to Roast him, i'm kind of used to him being in the team to be honest.
Just summing up what i have noticed over the last few years in eberts game.

He sucks but hey, shit happens. No need for a weekly Roast thread imo
