He'll go to Port, he'll kick the ball to more Crow players in Showdown's than Power players.

Ebert's a solid player, but he burns his team. He's better than anything at #25 in this draft, but Gunston's a top 10 in this draft. I'd throw our second at him, but the Eagles won't take that and Port will trump that.

That's exactly where I was going to before when I said I would trade pick 24 for Ebert. :thumbsu:

Ellis and Ebert for Gunston is a good result IMO.

Neither Ellis or Ebert will make our team better. Gunston with an extra 10 kilograms to his frame in the next 2 years makes us alot better.

Getting Ebert or Ellis means guys like Brodie Martin will not be given a game based on their name but in my view Brodie can be a better player than Ebert or Ellis.

WEST COAST could help deliver Adelaide star Kurt Tippett to the Lions.

AFL trade week begins on Monday and the Eagles have made a pre-emptive strike for a possible three-way deal that could mean departing Lions star Mitch Clark goes home to Perth and Gold Coaster Tippett returns to Queensland.

The Eagles have contacted the Lions to express their interest in Clark.

Bitter West Australian rival Fremantle was considered the front-runner for the 23-year-old but has been caught napping by the Eagles, who have wasted no time since midfielder Brad Ebert told the club he wanted to be traded to a South Australian team.

Interesting... Look forward to your ideas

What a crock of crap. Tippett for Ebert would need Brisbane's pick 8 with it. Which means Brisbane would give up Clark and 8 for Tippett and WC score big time. Stupid reporting.

I like how they call it a pre-emptive strike to make it sound exciting, when in reality, if any thing in that article is factual its the follow up line "The Eagles have contacted the Lions to express their interest in Clark."

Look it could go either way but at this point I chose to see it as if the clause exists its because both parties acknowledged he had the possibility of walking to his home club last time, some discussion has happened, Tippets on good money here, likes playing footy here, but he was young and things could change so in the unlikely circumstances things changed he has guaranteed he could get home without too much trouble and sure he would love to return there sometime in the future to live there is every chance it could be at the same point in his career that Pavlich returns to his home town.

If he lasts beyond trade week, hopefully we re-sign him soon because the speculation is going to be a huge disturbance all 2012 and if anything we and the media will talk it into existence.

It would make more sense for the eagles to give you Ebert and a pick, rather than the lions giving you a pick

Brisbane gain - Tippett
West Coast gain - Clark
Adelaide gain - Ebert + pick

or maybe a 4 way deal with you getting a pick from port in exchange for ebert aswell cos 4 way deals are real common and stuff

Why would we do that for Ebert. I would rather give Tippett to Gold Coast for pick 4 and Gorringe or pick 4 and Day/ We then use pick 4 on a promising ruckman and pick 10 on a good midfielder. We need to use our top 10 pick to pick up potential stars. To me Ebert is a version of Reilly a few yrs ago with a worse disposal.

true, you would need a top 10 pick, maybe pick 8 from the lions and the eagles give us a player

Probably the best re-action from the Crows.

If they show any interest in Ebert now it''ll only pump up his price.

I have no doubt that Port may attempt to get Ebert via the PSD for free, although it is risky with Gold Coast lurking there.

WCE will be trying to get port to give a fair value, which IMO they will not offer if there's little or no competition.

We just might be able to make a last minute last day bid for a cheap price, but better than Port's, if Port go down the track that I feel they will.

Either way, it comes across as not a high priority for Adelaide.

Personally id probably rather we tried to drive up the price if we dont want him.

We wouldn't be overly interested. We'd have a 2nd rounder on hold just in case Port try to break balls, but Ebert is a 'solid' player....no need to wet the pants.

His disposal isn't what we need if we're going forward, doubt Sando would be interested, maybe for a 3rd rounder or something.

Before the below, my preference would be for Ebert to go to Port, I think it's 'fairer,' - but that concept is a bit of bullshit these days.

Port will play overs for him as it is a good romance story for their club and supporters

Not the type of player we need, I would rather chase Howard

I'd like us to have a crack at Howard as well, definitely.

If we could trade Maric & 2nd Round to the Tigers for the Bock Compo Pick;

Bock Compo Pick for Ebert?

That'd be realistic, I would've thought?

Would that pick go close to Howard as well?

I actually think we can close this thread. Ebert does not want to play for Adelaide, Adelaide does not require his services.

I agree. I can't see any other outcomes than either 1. WC accept token offer from Port, or 2. Ebert goes PSD.

Adelaide could offer pick 10 and all Ebert has to do is say 'No, either take pick 4,327 from Port or I go PSD' Surely WC will not get anything close to fair value in this case.

How brilliant were we picking Danger over Ebert? I think more than one poster pointed out at the time Ebert is not a long term prospect for anyone but Port. Kudos for our recruiting staff if they made the decision based on that and copping the resulting flak. Fully vindicated. (as opposed to partially vindicated by Danger being the better player!)

No doubt if we picked him he'd be walking out on us too. At least WC got four years out of him.

Come on mate, this is exactly the kind of crap we've been complaining at Hawthorn fans for.

Adelaide supporters don't seem to want Ebert, but that doesn't mean the club won't consider it. I don't see any reason to close a thread that could be very relevant within days.

I agree stabby

the Crows will be in this up their eye balls - why wouldn't they

I know Port fans think there is some wierd Port Power thing going on in Eberts head but in reality if push comes to shove he'll play for Adelaide if it gets him home and on a good wicket.

I also want to ensure that Port pay overs :D

Fair call, but unfortunately for WC I think it's true. There are some significant differences between this and the Gunston issue:
1. Going to the PSD is not a threat for Ebert. PSD would all but guarantee Port get him, unless Gold Coast want to give him a sea change.
2. Melbourne has 10 clubs, Adelaide has 2.
3. I'm not trolling the WC board.

I agree that the club may well consider it. In fact, I expect them to from a due diligence perspective. But I just can't see Ebert agreeing to any trade with Adelaide regardless of how much the club (and not the fans) want or don't want him.

Again, fair call, leave thread open. I was actually agreeing more to the Ebert don't want us, we don't NEED Ebert more than the close thread. (That said, don't think I would be complaining if we got him)
