Not writing Ed off, I just have a feeling it will come together for him soon.

As long play in the Midfield and not on the Wing

Ed too big, too strong, too fast, two of the best farkoffskies from Ed Allan at 1:41, another at 2:22.
Some good work there from Ed.
He does seem to rush his disposals a bit, when he's actually got more time.
He just needs to turn on the jets more.
An encouraging game from him.

Finding plenty of it, kicking is the major concern at this level. Often goes the long bomb into the forward line simply because he does not trust himself to hit a target.

Ed I’d without doubt the most frustrating player on our list. He is exactly the type of player we need in the seniors. He has pace, endurance, clean hands and gets a stack of the footy when playing in the ressies. Just can’t seem to take his chances in the ones. Maybe he lacks confidence? Is he a little soft for seniors. I’m not sure. I really hope he gets it together. I think he had all the tools, just needs get the little man in his head to believe.

No room in our 22 for all of Long Anderson and Allan. Might only be room for one of them! Great to see Ed in rich form and he’ll be in consideration to come in at the expense of one these guys

I think Ed could be very different to those 2. He has pace to burn which sets him apart. Just can’t seem to get it to click when stepping up.

I think the biggest issue is when he steps up we never play him in the middle, I'd be inclined to throw him I. The guts for a game and see how he goes
He's improved a heap. Using his pace with the ball in hand. He's becoming a weapon at VFL. However role is an issue for AFL. I don't think you want him at stoppage yet and you don't want him at half back due to ball use being unreliable. Wing is his go for now - but you want him on the skinny side - the fat side winger has to be really clinical - it's a take your chances role.

Thing I noticed with Ed last night was his body language. Felt like he knew he was above the level and had some grit about him, like he belonged and wanted to lead. Absolute contrast of his afl form.
I give up on him then watch him last night and have hope. Only place he belongs though is centre square. Wing time needs to be given the ass and if he plays he plays pure mid. Not clean enough outside, needs to burst from stoppage and bang it forward. Last nights Ed could easily rival angry or Ned for that spot. I’m still hanging on Ed!!

Watching the replay as didn’t get to see last night. He’s improving. Biggest area of improvement for mine is bursting from stoppages and taking the game on more. Maybe he really is one of those rare ones that take longer.

Needed a big first couple of months and so far is having it. Keep up this improvement and he’s in line for an extension at least.

I haven't rated him since the first time ball went near him and he didn't want a bar of it in his debut that was gifted to him just to showcase him in front of his family in Perth.
His latest displays in the VFL are encouraging but unless we're running of soldiers I'd leave him there for some time.
It won't make him a hard nut but at least it might make him angry and really want it.

He's a much better VFL player than he was last year. Stoppage contest is the big area he needs to improve as his midfield running game has come on very strongly. But I don't think you can play both him and Nick together in the midfield at the moment - unless we're dominating the ruck so getting the clearance. We almost need to pick our mids based on the opposition ruck - that's how significant the ruck rule change has been. Long was the right guy against hte Hawk rucks, but when Steene can jump over them - bring on the dashers.

The way he plays VFL is the way he needs to play seniors. He frustrates me. I'd leave in the VFL also. We actually need that type of burst player.

It's funny how posters are trying to change ED into something else. ED is not your in and under mid, he keeps his feet and is your first/second receiver mid who explodes from contest. Unfortunately, CFC haven't been able to replace Titch. Long was the great BF hope, now they're trialing Anderson and it's why CFC where so interested in Clarey post season.

Edit: I'm excited about the synergy that could be developed between Ed and Phillips who is an inside mid with class.

Is Allan becoming the new fin mcrae? Just dominating the lower level, but an absolute deer in the headlights at the AFL level.
He’s above Macrae but whether he can translate it remains to be seen. He’s def improved this season.

I’d lost hope given it’s his 4th season and the majority you’d expect to be regulars by now.

Finn McGuinness has been a slow burn for hawks. Perhaps Allan can follow. He’s def looking more confident.

Like others I don’t want him rushed back in.

No. Allan is actually dominating the lower level. Finn just got a lot of mediocre VFL level possessions in the VFL.
