Interesting. Wonder if we try to engineer Reid to the Pies…
That would be an interesting behind the scenes discussion if Ed keeps developing his game this year. How much is he worth? What’s his ceiling? I think he has a lot of potential.

Harley is obviously a huge talent and his 15-20 possessions, centre square clearance and a goal would sit nicely alongside nick. BUT, is he a cultural fit in a Fly team?

That’s the question isn’t it. JDG had similar larrikin vibes. Could be a spectacular success or backfire massively…

The way they are both trending by seasons end WC would have to give something else plus Harley for Ed. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I was told today Eagles will lose Reid at years end.

Eagles are planning on putting together a huge offer to Ed Allan.
Reid would need to check his attitude at the door if he comes to the Pies. He reminds me of Ginnivan and won't fit in well with that current arrogance he seems to exude.

In saying that though, no doubt the kid has talent - strong as an Ox. Would love to have him with Nick in the midfield.

Only got 10 minutes
Should of played from 5 minutes to go in Third quarter

Unfair on the kid

I dont like flys use of tactical subs
Who for? There was no clear sub candidate by that point and the game was still red hot. Aside from resting one of the old timers (it was way to early for that 5 min into the 3rd) the only guy that looked to be off his tucker a little by late in the 3rd, probably a lack of match fitness, was WHE and he ends the game with 3 goal assists.

With the midfield pinch, I realise it's hard to see him get a full game, but I can't wait for him to get a full game next to the other young guy like Nick and Ned Long.
I think they could form our longterm mid group for years to come!

He did nothing when he came on but run around like a headless chook.

Not knocking him as a talent but it didn’t scream pick me. Needs to work on his tackling. Maybe get some lessons from Ned.
Unfair post really. With only 15 minutes exposure he was completely up against it to impress and shouldn’t be judged one way or the other.

BUT, is he a cultural fit in a Fly team?

From the small window we see through from the outside, I’d say yes.

He behaves like a winner who hates losing, which is very much in line with the culture at Collingwood.

Fly mentioned in his presser that the Swans always come back at the end (Eg: our game last year which we lost), so he didn’t feel comfortable making the sub until we were 6 goals up with 5 mins left.

The sub isn’t only about who you bring on, it’s also about who you take off for them.

Felt the same, sadly. Fresh as and couldn’t get into it. Doesn’t seem to read the play well at all, and doesn’t use his assets. Couldn’t help thinking of the line “he goes where the ball isn’t…”

Long on the other hand must’ve been knackered by then, but kept demanding possession, opening up play and pushing the ball forward..

I’d imagine it’s very difficult to come on and immediately adjust to the pace of the game.

But I agree, your point still stands.

Young and might grow out of the personality issues, but also might not. Why take the risk? People like that can be pretty corrosive.

Tough side to break into, Long now significantly ahead, Sullivan also.
If JDG plays Ed will miss out, I'd look elsewhere against the Lions for a sub either way.
He isn't the finished product by any means so him missing out is not drawing a line through him as a player by any means, but there is a gap still with tackling, disposal ( those floating left hand handballs ) running and intensity that needs to be closed before he will be a regular in our team.

Then that not much Confidence in Ed then
