If you go on the afl app in the "stats" section it allows you to watch every single one of a players disposals/involvements in a game.

Anyway, I had a look at Ed in his games against North and Hawthorn, and what stood out was effective he was running up and down the wing, going from contest to contest and very often being an outlet player. Kind of reminds be of Brad Hill in Hawthorn's glory years.

Ed had a few errant kicks against Hawthorn, although this seems more related to poor decision making in those 2-3 instances, as opposed to being a bad kick, as he regulary hit up targets well with the rest of his disposals.

Just needs to put on another 6-8kgs now and be abit more aggressive in contested situations and I think we potentially have a real weapon here.
Only a theory, but I suspect his wing role could be a direct response to what Dempsey did to us a month ago. Unfortunately bar Allan we don’t really have someone to go with him defensively. We’ll see them in September by which time Allan will have 20 matches under his belt if he stays fit and curbing Dempsey or Holmes out would be massive.

Really solid footage, the kind of stuff that I find harder to notice watching live at the ground (get too emotionally sucked in!). He gets up and down that wing effortlessly, and has been involved in some rebound 50 work from deep in the opposition forward line - something Sidey, Crisp & Lipinski have been really good at throughout the years.

Busy lives mean we don't always have the time or inclination, but if you can, I highly recommend a rewatch of games to take it all in without the anxiety and emotional impact.

I'm a blubbering mess during even the most benign nothing-game, even if we're 10 goals up, so I can't analyse a damn thing!

But when you're watching it back you can pick players and just watch what they do off the ball etc.

It's good fun!

Edit: I appreciate that not everyone has access to Kayo/Fox, but where there's a will there's a way.

Thankfully the AFL site uploads full uploads for free, usually about 48h after the game. I like to pick my way through the replay there during free time where possible, for similar reasons.

Couldn't agree more. Watching replays is very rewarding and you see so much more when you're relaxed.
I haven't watched the replay yet, am saving it for mid week . Such a long time until Monday.
Bet this forum starts getting twitchy before the week is out. :)

Absolutey 100% true and I do this nearly every week. The emotion when watching live makes you more oblivious to stuff you notice with clarity afterwards. I’ve found watching when sober also increases your analysis but lowers your emotions by a fair way. 😂

I might try this sober trick one of these days.

.... I said "might".

We only have 9 players on our list with a Rising Star nomination, one of the lowest tallies in the AFL:

2 of those players were nominated with another club (Houston and Mitchell).

There are 9 players currently on AFL lists who have a second Rising Star nomination, but they've only been counted once here.

Pendles was nominated for a rising star in 1845 😊

You'd expect Maynard, Degoey, Shooter and McStay to come back in to the side. Sully would be one of the first out.

Unfortunately, someone performing well will have to get squeezed out. I hope it's not Ed but it's quite possible.

Luckily there's generally someone injured or we'll rest a few.

It's a good problem to have. Playing Sully, Ned Long and Ed Allan for a few games in a row has added to our depth and developed some youth.
