needs to find some mongrel in his game or his career wont amount to much. his skills wont guarantee him a spot in the side, so he needs to improve other areas to compensate

Was Atkinson the long sleeve dude, I remember the name, not a bad player
Now I remember. It was the sideburns that stood outThey all tried the sleeves at times back then but Akko no moreso than anybody else.

I don't mind him not trying to break tackles at this point, but when he has the ball in space he should definitely be using his speed more like Crispy does.Nothing wrong with that in general play. The inside out kick is a favourite of a few guns like Green and Naicos. Allan’s issue on the play you’re referring to was that he didn’t use his pace to straighten up or even turn onto his right to snap if he could break a tackle. Those two areas of his game along with his competitiveness are what’s holding him back, IMO.
If you can run a 2.9 20m at 194cm you should be at least trying to burn people off and break tackles. Sure he’s not going to be Finn Callaghan, but I’d like to see him trying to be a different version of Ed Allan to the one we’ve seen the past 18 months and demanding a spot in the 23. He goes through the motions too much when he has the physical traits to impose himself on matches.
Not really he had an average game and Markov brings the energy so he’s preferred for now.Interesting selection call on Allan.
Well i was wrong, I thought the observations about his efforts needing improvement were inaccurate, but they were spot on because the coach shares them. Not really he had an average game and Markov brings the energy so he’s preferred for now.
You would hope so given their respective draft positionsBetter prospect than Ned Long!
He seems to look unimpressed when he's on the bench. It might just be his demeanourLikely as good as gone come end of season.
Can see he’s frustrated with lack of game time.
Definitely should be getting games over quite a few players in the team.
Besides WC, and I'm not sure he'd be in their plans. Ed could be better than he is but he just can't take the next step atm.I mean a guy that’s flaky in the contest, doesn’t pressure hard and with a questionable demeanour on the bench is the last guy I want on our list.
FWIW I’m not convinced there’d be many takers and that he wants out anyway.
So much better, but unless there’s a massive turnaround in on field attitude he’ll just becc bc another wasted talent.Besides WC, and I'm not sure he'd be in their plans. Ed could be better than he is but he just can't take the next step atm.
Is it an attitude issue or just his natural reaction time.So much better, but unless there’s a massive turnaround in on field attitude he’ll just becc bc another wasted talent.
I’ll stick fat, with you Fat.FFS with all this Ed Allan shite. He a Collingwood player and he's only a kid.
I'll keep backing him in.
Go and tell Fly he's not up to it.
The attitude stuff I don’t know about because I don’t look for that and was mostly piggy backing on others, but I think his flakiness in the contest is about instincts. Whether he’s got the instincts of a runner or KPP is largely irrelevant he just doesn’t commit when it’s his time to go. He’s 3 years in now in one of the best systems in the league so I don’t think that’s changing. Is it an attitude issue or just his natural reaction time.
His issue looks like to me that’s he’s playing the the role of runner but has the reaction time of a key position player.
I’d like to see Allan given a starting role against the Dees. Put it on him to make the finals squad. The attitude stuff I don’t know about because I don’t look for that and was mostly piggy backing on others, but I think his flakiness in the contest is about instincts. Allan had a Big Game this time last year vs DeesI’d like to see Allan given a starting role against the Dees. Put it on him to make the finals squad.
I think Lipinski makes way for Howe.
Hopefully Dees are as disinterested on Friday as they were for that match.Allan had a Big Game this time last year vs Dees
I agree with this - in GWS game I was scathing of his nonchalant approach, but I think he’s stepped since. A lack of a permanent role is the issue, and I don’t buy into flakiness per se, given his constant initiation ( rather than reaction to) of push and shove at stoppage. Is it an attitude issue or just his natural reaction time.

I think that would be a mistake because he’ll go to water in a finals environment. That’s not to say Lipinski is any better in the contest (and I’m tipping him to be the sub), but at least can be a difference maker by foot alongside his running. I fully respect that there’s people amongst us who will preach time I just don’t think we’re in that phase as a club.I’d like to see Allan given a starting role against the Dees.
