Ed Clarke from NSW/ACT RAMS should be drafted. Ill just let you in on his resume:

1) 2004 All Australian U/18
2) 2004 NSW MVP at nationals as Vice Captain
3) Voted Clear Best on ground in the rising stars cup. With 32 possessions and 2 goals.
4) In his 3rd game of nationals against tasmania he had 26 possessions, 6 goals straight, and 9 clearances. And yes NSW/ACT lost that game too.
5) 2004 SFL first grade premiership player.
6) He recieved 10 morrish medal votes from and he only played 4 games
7) As an u/16 he won the U/18 B/f for the comp in Sydney. He only played 6 games. Yes i know Sydney football is not at the highest standard but this is still massive effort.
8) Numerous mentions in the best players for the swans reserves.
9) Captained NSW/ACT U/16 in 2002 where he recieved runner up best at Carnival.
10) He attended the 2004 draft camp screenings.
11) Ed represented NSW/ACT in U/16 for 2 Nationals and U/18 for 2 NAationals

A reason why Ed isnt a shoo in because of his body type. He is stated to be 178 and 91. Ed is easily a few cm taller than this. Another reason hindering his draft chances is he had a dissapointing 2003 U/18 nationals as he was suffering from osteitis pubis for the whole year.

I read somewhere that Ed was slow. This is bullsh#t. Ed can run 20 meters in just over 2 sec. He is also fit and recently ran 14.8 in the beep test.

I think through this that ed deserves to be drafted. Sure he doesnt have the perfect body type, but when you have the footy it doesnt really matter how tall you are.

Yeah i agree. Cant believe he hasnt been considered. A few of the games i watched made me start thinking first round draft. If not that, id expect him to at least be picked up somewhere along the line.

he's not slow. And he is big, not always a bad thing. The bloke is strong
I suppose AFL Clubs will have to decide if he is dominating because he has the arms and shoulders of a 30 year old man, playing in an under 18 comp.

He got alot of his clearances because he is physically developed, would he still be as effective in the AFl?

Who knows? But you cant blame him for his body type, he has had an outstanding year!

Check the record books, every time over the past 4 years Ed Clarke has played on Richard Tambling he has given Tambling a pasting - flashy sports car beaten by v8 brute!

It all gets back to who is going to actually get the footy when it's tight.

Last time I looked they were all going to have to play against 30 year olds next year.
The only traces of the last bloke who blamed "Lethal Leigh Mathews" for his body type are fading teethmarks on Lethal's coathanger forearm.
Need a new Lethal out in Hawksland?

Clarke would be worth a late pick.
Cons are his short, not quick and at 91kg is bigger than most midfielders in u18s
As i said before clarke was metioned to be slow, this is totally wrong. One of clarkes best assest is his speed over 20m. If you watch him play you can see. Clarke played on kane tennace a year ago. Tenace is unbelieveably fast yet clarke was named best on. I witnessed this game and Ed gave tenace the biggest touch up ever.

On to his body, yes he is already developed but this gives him the chance to step straight into afl because he is already physically developed. He still has scope to improve because the guy has never touched a weight in his life.

Being in Sydney and having talked to many about him, people say he is a very skillful player who reads the game very well. A ball magnet.Very strong.
Excellent credentials as a player.
Should be picked up in draft.
Interesting to see where.

A little slow, but ability to read the play could override that.

Interesting how every smokey draft pick suggestion on this board quickly has input from 3 or 4 new users (<5 posts) who are quite knowledgable on that particular player but have never been seen on Bfooty before - or probably after...

See the Jesse D Smith thread Pepi - seems Leather is just a well-informed and very parochial Sydney sider who thinks he's onto something.

And it appears leather is in good company according to the Morrish Medal votes; All-Australian selectors; and Rising Star Cup judges.

That u18 Nationals game against Tasmania - when was the last time in any game at any level you saw an on-baller kick 6 goals AND top the possessions AND in a losing side?

Don't be too hard on the Sydney boys.

NO champ sorry. But i wish i could play likie him. As i said before in another forum im a footy nut trapped in a rugby world (originally from SA and WA). Aparrently clarke goes to a school in the same suburb i did so i think we we get the same local paper. Ive played a few years above him. Hes had numerous articles in it so ive been following his progress since then. All i do is watch fox footy mate which had all he nationals. Ive seen a few of his games in the local league and also before the swannies.

Wat kind of fu@kwit would go and talk himself up on a chat site that i would put money on that no afl coach or talent scout would read. As if you would want to hear wat other people say about you! You'd just wanna play your own game, just like judd does.

Pepi get your hand off kings royal jewell and see that im just interested in a sydney boy who has the chance to go places.

I think some people are upset about newcomers Leather Poisened, it seems that they dont respect people from NSW way, even though we were born in footy states.

I didnt realise this was such an elite club.

Anyway, i think clarke should be looked at, But i cant wait for him to play at my local club Hollroyd Parramatta next year, i heard he was offered $110 a game plus pie and coke.

well If I played against U/14 id get alot of the ball as well, unless in 3 years he weighs 120kg's he won't have the same impact in the Afl, some players who grow earlywill be stars but not all of them
