easy to make this comment in 'hindsight', but i'd hazard to guess that quite a few clubs would have picked him up in the draft after carlton snatched him in consideration of the 3 on the bench rule change. great tank and it showed in the last quarter.

Just too many of his type. Always looked like he had the dedication which takes you a long way.

I don't understand keeping Jarryd Morton. I would rather Ed than him. I'd rather someone that really really wants an AFL career (include Beau Muston on this list).

All in all should have used an extra draft pick over Morton.

Yet another disaster of our recruiting department I'm afraid. He's was on the Box Hill list for two years and we overlooked him twice. Granted his 2009 wasn't close to his 2010, but he would have been a better selection than Duryea, Williams, Kayler-Thompson or others.

I feel our club looks at 'greener pastures' far too often, which leaves us ignoring those right under our noses.

Dawson is still only a fair to average defender. Let's be honest here.

Markovic just back-up for Lake, and will be gone as soon as Lake is fit.

Pederson dropped after one (pretty good) game. Again, back up for Grima, Thompson, etc and will not play games if they are fit.

Moral of the story, only Dawson is a walk up starter in any of these sides, and that's because the Saints style doesn't demand excellent one on one defenders.

Third time's the charm, eh mark. After all, the salary cap rorters did take Harf and Brett Johnson off our hands after both of them were washed up.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, the Crows had him on their list as a rookie and decided to delist him before he even set foot on Box Hill City Oval. He was passed over multiple times by many other clubs before Carlton took him in the rookie draft last year. Hawthorn isn't the only club to make a mistake about a player. In an alternate universe, Buddy would be running around for Richmond and we'd be cursing Turnover Tambling.
