Very disappointed from a Box Hill and Hawthorn perspective that he won't be playing for us next year
Ed is a fantastic player in his skills, endurance, tenacity, work ethic and teamwork. Once he is fully up and running after his leg rehab, I'm sure he will be a sensational pickup for you guys.
Good luck Ed!
Ed is an elite athlete and this season he was the standout player in the VFL until he broke his ankle. To complete the package he is a sensational young man and a great clubman. Ed has been training at Box Hill and based on his determination and work ethic I'm confident he will make a full recovery from his injury. Last night he was consistently at the front of the pack in the running exercises. If ever a player deserves another crack in the AFL it has to be Ed so I wish him all the best as a Blue.

ill start off by saying that i dont know much about him, but from the youtube video (being the only thing i can go by at this stage) his kicking action looks flawed in a sense of a slow action and the fact that he floats it up too much.
He also seemed to make a lot of decision making errors, or is it that his lack of foot skills make him look like he chose the wrong option.
Can the people in the know give us some inside on his kicking please.
As far as his inside work goes, and his character, im more that happy with it.
p.s Not having a go at the boy, and not wanting to chastise him just off 1 youtube video, but its just what i viewed.
thanks

FORMER Adelaide rookie Ed Curnow and Hawthorn rookie Luke Breust continued their outstanding form for Box Hill as the Hawks snapped a two-game VFL losing streak with a 22-point win against the Northern Bullants on Sunday.
Curnow was named best on ground for the Hawks, for the third straight week, after collecting 29 possessions against the Bullants, while Breust bagged five goals in the 15.10 (100) to 11.12 (78) victory at Preston City Oval.
Breust was instrumental in sparking the Hawks in the second half.
“Both of them are in super form,” Box Hill football manager Stuart Ward said.
“Ed’s just getting the ball, but it’s not just getting the ball, it’s what he’s doing when he hasn’t got the ball.
“We measure on what we call our ‘honest efforts’, the tackles, chases and defensive pressure and Ed led our team in that.
“Luke is an exciting forward that’s really come on this year, his second year.
“He’s kicking goals every week.”
Really, you got all that from the vid?
What I got from the vid was his ear and nose hair could do with a trim up.
But seriously, also not having a go at him just playing devils advocate before pouring on the sugar, 18 recruiting managers overlooked him in the various drafts before we nab him in the rookie, (unless he had not nominated, in which case my bad) so there must still be some question marks over him whereby clubs were only willing to risk a rookie spot on him.
That said, our recruiters have been bang on the money with some of our rookie picks in the past and it would not surprise me to see him as a nominated elevation and playing in the show against the tuggers.
My biggest problems with our picks is how are we gonna fit em all in. By the way we are going we are going to have 30 genuine senior players on our list and why is it still over 2 months before we get a taste.
That's just about the magical number, for me.
I feel we have the stock to get us to that position within the next year or two.
We're a little out of kilter with some of the young KP players, but we're closer to the right balance then we were 6 weeks ago.
The only thing that could hold us back next year are some serious key personnel injuries or that three quarters of our squad have gone backwards.
Considering we got relatively little from Gibbs, Murphy, Mclean, Hampson and Warnock you'd think the upside is there.

If Curnow stands up, then he's more likely to push Ellard aside than Mclean who is in our best 22.Polled 5 best ons from round 3 to 7?
Judd like!
Winning a Bnf from half the season is a BIG deal!
Maybe Mclean shouldn't take it so easy this pre season???
If this doesnt put the hurry up some of last years rookies (Dare, Cachia) dont know what will. Also means players like Carrots, Ellard, Joseph have to lift another notch too. There is nothing like genuine competition for spots in the team to lift the overall excellence.

I still don't understand why we cut him after one year.
Absolute gun. Played against him while he was at the falcons, trained with him at Box Hill. Can say from first hand experience that he has a good work ethic, great skills and the boy just does not stop running!
Forgot to mention: He's a great inside player. Amazing in the middle of the stoppages with good positional sense and does all the 1%ers. Blocks for teammates and has the pace to stay outside the contest and hurt his man on the burst
So Hadley out, Curnow in. Except with more speed

We need someone with the ability to block and lay a decent tackle, i think our calls have just been answered.
