Poor post.

Robinson and Yarran did develop in their second seasons.

Robinson took Fletcher out of the game in our win by sticking to his role as a defensive forward.

Yarran is a jet.

Only a fool or troll would knock Yarran.

Ellard developed into a mid after being drafted as a small forward.

Russell, Garlett and Armfield have come on in leaps and bounds.

Terrible post that a BF troll would usually come out with.

Thomas nearly cost them a flag after he choked in the first GF and stuffed up two inside fifties.

Great development.

I didnt see much wrong with his analysis. I dont think he had looked at it through rose colored glasses, navy ones if anything but it was all valid.

But why wouldnt you be able to look at the glass being half full or more here? Of all the places to be optimistic and pro your own club, why would you complain about seeing it here?

This place is really going to the dogs. Hey theres an idea, why dont you.........

Just his last comment on Daisy exposed his bias. Dale Thomas had a terrific year for the Woods and so did most of their youngsters. Never seen so many players I considered spuds play so effectively in a premiership side. Only a fool would dismiss their progress and contribution to Collingwood's success.

Yarran has shown glimpses of brilliance. We rate him as supporters purely on the potential he has yet to realise. Can't think of a game he would come even close to a top 3 performance this year.

As for Mitch yet again has potential but is inconsistent and has to work on his decision making hence got dropped to find form.

Yes I believe we have made progress overall but in terms of player development we are not in the same league as Collingwood.

Only peanuts like yourself question posters loyalty to Carlton because we don't share the rose coloured glasses view of the world. These forums allow for robust discussion and were not intended to be monopolised by posters like yourself lacking in self awareness.

He shoots, he scores.

Bang!!

Our mids are developing, but compared with Collingwood we dont stack up.

Blind Freddy couldn't deny it.

Hopefully next year we start to catch up.:thumbsu:

Of course he is going to show bias towards a bunch of black and white wearing w***ers... after all, he is a Carlton supporter and they are the great enemy. But... he is correct, the filth collectively choked in the first grand final and if the ball had bounced properly for Milne, we would have been celebrating an Aint's flag and we would have been laughing at the Couldabeen Premiers Collingwood.

As it turns out, they stormed home in the second grand final and won their third flag in 52 years.

I just don't rate the Pies midfield much. If you watch the first GF for example, the Saints extra class through the middle killed the Pies in the 2nd half, and they were very unlucky not to win that game. One right-angled bounce in the Saints goal square 2 minutes before the end, saved the Pies, otherwise we would have been praising the Saints. So it's a fine line. The next week, the Saints lost 2-3 players to injury and so that game was over early. The key to the Pies rare flag, was how they combined as a team, and in particular their flooding + along the boundary thing, that most teams struggled to combat. Individually, they're nothing special. Nothing remotely close to the quality/talent level of the Geelong GF teams for example. So we actually don't have a clear benchmark in 2011. Several teams were off the boil, and the GF was a pretty ugly affair between 2 very defensive teams. We've got to aim a lot higher in 2011 and set our own benchmark. We have some unbelievable list talent to work with now. It's going to be good.

I still hate them but I am mature enough to respect them for their achievements this year. I just don't get your post. Whether they lost or won, they got them to the grand final. On the other hand we haven't achieved a home final yet.

Yep they allow for all the robustness you like. And peanuts like me. Telling trolls like you to take it to the bay where you will find way more posters that think Collingwood are better than Carlton at just about everything than you will in here. Here, I am in the majority mate. So go troll it on the bay where you will find like minded folk. Fans are entitled to be as optimistic and up beat about our players as they like here mate, so why would you complain about it?

Sorry guys for the pissing contest that this has ended up. I wasn't knocking Collingwood, they're a very good team. What I was taking objection to was this "streets ahead in developing midfielders". Every year whichever team does well is described as streets ahead in coaching, development, game plans, playing list, officials etc but then suddenly this team that is streets ahead gets overtaken by another team who is then streets ahead.

This year it was Collingwood, but last year Geelong were streets ahead although half way through the year it was St Kilda. before that it was Hawthorn, before them Geelong again and before that West Coast but for teams that were supposedly streets ahead they never stayed ahead. Collingwood might even be the best at the moment but I personally think it's Geelong for their ball movement, skill level and physical strength their midfielders have and I also think that if Collingwood were streets ahead in developing midfielders they would've had to add mature bodied quality players like Ball and Jolly to go with other mature bodies and high draft picks. This team that is supposedly streets ahead executed their game plan to perfection but still only fought out a drawn grand final really, it's a lot closer than people think and we're coming along pretty well.

Curnow seems a good pick up and was very happy to see his name as our first pick in the rookie draft whilst over in Thailand! Thought I may well be lucky enough to tune in to see the draft live but forgot the 4 hour time difference. :o

Good interview on the CFC site.

Early days, but our tradition of impressive rookie draft success looks set to continue. Ed's going to be putting some serious selection pressure on players like Mclean and Ellard.

Our list managers deserve a pay rise. A fantastic effort this year.

:)

Agreed.

In order for us to match it in the midfield with the reigning premiers is obvious, we need mature bodies, we need our midfielders to develop that core strength

- Which gives you that ability to get away from an attempting tackle.
- The strength to stand up in a tackle, and be able to fire the ball off eg. Chris Judd
- To be able to hold a tackle, which IMO, was our biggest downfall. To see opposition mids run through ours like we were tackle bags, reminded me we just need more time.

Thats why im so happy with the acquisition of Curnow, a bigger body, great attitude.

Great pick up congrats guys, cant believe he didnt get picked up in national draft.
Was actually talking to him when he got the news, pretty excited to say the least. He used to play footy with Lachie Henderson, both really matched well together so guess will see how they go at AFL level.

Far out whoever is putting the time and effort to writing this shite as an alias deserves a medal for peserverence. It is just like the guy who keeps pushing the button in 'Lost'.

Thomas was an inconsistent half forward until his fifth season.

I never said Thomas was a dud, but I feel comfortable saying that Yarran is a better kick with both feet and decision maker. The kid's a jet, so you're clearly blind to what we have at our disposal. You only look like a fool for bagging Yarran out who doesn't have the motor to play midfield/four quarters at the moment.

Turns 20 in eight days.

As a second year player, Robinson is miles ahead of JR who was our whipping boy and struggling to impact games as a defensive forward in 2008 (fourth season).

One shouldn't have to apologise to fools such as yourself for supporting players they rate.

The Pies players are the best team because they're well drilled and stick to their roles. We're still developing and working on improving our coaching after coming from further back. Yet prior to the last three games against Collingwood, we had beaten them three times in a row, so we shouldn't assume that we're miles off in our development. They finally hit their peak after they brought in Ball and Jolly who played in GFs at their previous clubs. Any side would improve if they added two best 22 players to a side that made the preliminary final. Plus Brown who covered for Wood and Fraser who are pea hearts who haven't developed.

I love how the group think has North and Melbourne as a great up and coming team, yet if Carlton can push the Saints and beat the Cats in 2009, then we're not going anywhere and developing. Carlton didn't defeat the Saints and Cats by accident this year either with senior players missing these matches.

How is our development after we brought on Jacobs to the point of Adelaide signing him?

Peanuts such as yourself should stop with your consistently negative rants and giving us your glass is half empty view.

What's your excuse for being a wet blanket?

Yours sincerely,

Get stuffed.

Are you related to 30 year fool because you two must have swum from the same gene pool? I love this club just as much as you. The fact I don't rate share your views of our players doesn't make me any less of a supporter. I love this club and have followed it through its highs and lows. I also like the fact I believe we have the most intelligent and best behaved supporters going around.Well, I held this view until I read your posts.

I could easily argue the point on Yarran with you because like you I am a big fan, but also smart to realise he need to build his fitness to have a big impact and it will take time, but I won't. My dad told me never to argue with idiots so I will stop right here.
