My Curnow highlight came in his first 10 seconds of game time. He ran straight off the bench and dived into the pack to come out with the ball. No mucking around.

Loved his game.

Agree. That's EXACTLY the player we need. Means Judd doesn't have to do that stuff, and can start getting on the end of some of Ed's handballs, and use his power and speed to break away from packs. He's doing the job Rattan wanted McLean to do so badly.

Great debut by the lad. Loved his attack, and his disposal by foot was nowhere near as bad as I'd been led to believe. Could be our secret weapon this year.

@dirty_14's tweet yesterday:

Glue factory thanks driver...

A reoccurrence of a shoulder. Hopefully he's back and fighting for a spot soon.

Favourite part of play last night is the passage that put us back infront in the last...

Curnow collected of half back and under pressure he kicked it to russell... russell handballs it to murph who then handballed it to a running Curnow who backed up his earlier work... kicked the ball deep into our 50 where it was 2 on 2 (Hammo and Army our two)... ball spills from the back where Army collect and trickles the ball into goal...

Even if he did nothing else all game... that effort alone is justification on picking him and playing him

That was my favourite piece of play as well, his power running is outstanding. You could see that he was the only one willing to work to get to that next contest, it was great to see.

AD, it's only Sunday.
Point. Also, Carrots was pretty good for someone who's lacking real match fitness.

OTOH, the restricted rotations will expose someone who's not firing on all cylinders. I hope it's not the bug I got in October.

The way AFL is played now, all on ballers play an in close role and play a very physical game. The outside role is played by the flankers and wingers who rush in looking to recieve during ball ups.

Curnow, Mclean and Judd would be good in the center with Gibbs, Murphy, Carrazzo, Robinson, Lucas and Simpson hunting the ball from the flanks and wings in a more outside role. Obviously gibbs, Murphy, Carrazzo and Robinson would rotate through the center. The way I see it the tough, big, strong guys should play in the center and the classy outsiders outside the square.

Even a Flu now will affect Carrots going into next weekend. .. especially if it is as bad a flu as it sounds. .. He wont be able to train with the group until he is better and taking into consideration the need to travel and I can see him getting a week off in the twos or perhaps playing sub. ..

No wonder the coaches love him too, his work rate is exceptional and just keeps trying and when he tackles, he seems to do it well and smartly. Fantastic hands in tight too.

Absolutely agree.

If our midfield has copped criticism for anything over the last few years it's been our willingness to do the hard yards and run backwards.
Curnow ran very hard both ways.
