Well, Curnow is indigenous.

His brother George should play with the Geelong Falcons this year.

Sensational goal, but his disposal and run reminds me of Carrazzo.

A good debut by Curnow tonight. Impressed me the most of the 3 newcomers (although Laidler wasn't too far behind). I think he will play a fair bit of senior football this season. He has certainly put the pressure back on McLean & Ellard to perform if they want to be in our 22.

He'd be behind both McLean and Ellard but if he puts in a good performance tonight he's every chance of holding on to his spot for next week.

1 game and Ellard's spot is already under threat. Curnow is a lot footy-smarter and worked very hard tonight.

Looks like Murphy. Got confused between these two a bit. Curnow is probably tougher at the footy but not as quick. Great pick up!

Thought he'd struggle early on but he'd be hard to displace on tonight's performance. Be interesting to see how he goes against better opposition, but.

Have you got any 'more seasoned' blokes waiting in the wings that were simply a week away from playing (for whatever reason) and are likely to knock him out of the team as a result?

The only ones likely to take his spot would be McLean and Ellard but he has definitely earned his spot for next week. I personally want to see him play te majority of the season and think he is capable of that unless he has complications with his leg.

I was quite impressed by what i saw tonight. Disposal seems to be in the average to good range which is fine. The thing that impressed me the most was his ability to get to the fall of so many balls. Such a good running capacity and knowing the best way to get to plenty of contests without having exceptional pace. Good toughness and tackling ability too. Surpassed expectation.

No wonder the coaches love him too, his work rate is exceptional and just keeps trying and when he tackles, he seems to do it well and smartly. Fantastic hands in tight too.

Favourite part of play last night is the passage that put us back infront in the last...

Curnow collected of half back and under pressure he kicked it to russell... russell handballs it to murph who then handballed it to a running Curnow who backed up his earlier work... kicked the ball deep into our 50 where it was 2 on 2 (Hammo and Army our two)... ball spills from the back where Army collect and trickles the ball into goal...

Even if he did nothing else all game... that effort alone is justification on picking him and playing him

My Curnow highlight came in his first 10 seconds of game time. He ran straight off the bench and dived into the pack to come out with the ball. No mucking around.

Loved his game.

That was a great game by Ed. The guy is such a team-oriented, disciplined footballer. Does the attacking AND defensive stuff. Must be a coaches dream. He's also very popular amongst his team-mates. Looks like we've managed to snare another quality mid, even though we used our higher draft picks on quality talls. The Rookie draft has been awesome for us. As others have mentioned, it seems that Curnow, Ellard and Mclean will be fighting for the one spot. This has to be a good thing i.e. healthy competition. Would have also liked Ellard out there last night though - would have done well in those conditions. I just can't wait until we get all out players back and can field something close to a full strength side.
