Toast Ed Langdon (Re-signed till 2019)

I noticed there's no toast thread for Ed (shocking I know!) so as his buddy I've taken the responsibility of fixing this injustice. And we'll have plenty of reasons to fill this thread over the next 2 years (at least) that Langdon's going to be playing in purple!

An absolute steal in the 2014 draft at pick 54, he's stolen hearts amongst the Freo fan base, as part of the 3 amigos with fellow 2014 draftees Blakely & Weller, for taking on the infamous #26 jumper, and his inability to take an action shot without his tongue sticking out.

On field, Langdon became a lock in the Freo half forward at the start of this year, and the side looked better for it. Unfortunately this wasn't to last with his season cut short by PCL surgery.

So good luck with the recovery Ed! I'm super happy to hear of the re-signing and I'm sure everyone else is here too (and if they're not, then they're wrong). Can't wait to see his tongue sticking out on the field in 2018.

Definitely missing his run right now. A promising young player and glad to have the three amigos together.

Can be prone to the occasional turnover and shite kick, but everyone in our team has had their moments.

Is usually deadly around goals. I thought he should have won BOG in the WAFL grand final last year. Glad to have him signed up.

Absolutely stoked with this! I think because of the success of Weller and Blakely sometimes we forget he's the third amigo. Would love to see him play all 22 games next year.

Think he'll be on par with Connor Blakely, just lagging slightly in development due to ongoing injuries.. reckon by 2019 he'll be a Gun. Great to lock him down.

I remember thinking I didn't want us paying too much for BHilly because we already had Ed.
Now we've got both.
Will be a great little player for us.

Freo have really missed him since his injury.

We were 6-3 after round 9 when he succumbed to the knee.

Since then he has played just 1 game.

And freo are 2-9 since then he got injured.

His growth and improvement at the start of the year shouldn't be underestimated.

Young emerging midfielder, Ed Langdon has agreed to a two-year contract extension, signing him on until the end of season 2019.

Langdon says he is really excited to be staying on at the club.

“I’m stoked to be at the club for another two years, the club’s in a really strong place at the moment with all the young guys coming through,” Langdon said.

“I’m really excited.”

This year hasn’t exactly gone to plan for the young midfielder but he is remaining positive on his road to recovery.

The 21-year-old was ruled out for the remainder of the 2017 season after an injury to his PCL in round 11 and underwent knee surgery on Tuesday last week.

“I’m really optimistic, so I can tick that box off and now I can really focus on getting the rehab right and being good to go day one of pre-season,” Langdon said.

Langdon was selected at pick 54 in the 2014 National draft alongside Connor Blakely, Lachie Weller and Ethan Hughes, and says it’s good to develop together as a group.

“Naturally you bond pretty closely with the blokes you were drafted with and I was lucky enough to be drafted with some ripper blokes and some pretty good footballers as well,” Langdon said

“It’s really good to develop together and we stick pretty close.”

Langdon also says there is a lot to love about the lifestyle in the west.

“I love WA, love the beaches, love the weather, love all the blokes at the club, it’s a pretty good place to be at the moment,” Langdon said.

Langdon leans on fellow midfielder Bradley Hill who he says, has really helped with his development at the club.

“Bradley’s been an unbelievable player and I love the way he goes about it, so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can off of him and he’s been great for my development so far,” Langdon said

“I look forward to learning more from him in the next few years.”
