I thought he tried his guts out tonight and showed what he's really capable of.
As well as that ripper goal in the first quarter, he was at every end of the ground and took solid contested marks, made space and chased for four quarters.

Apart from kicking a bag each week I'm wondering what else he needs to do not be slagged on this board so much.

happy with his effort...

did he have a different role tonight..

normally he just sticks to the goal square but it seemed like he was out and getting touches which is really where he should be....

Would have thought this was his best game for the club. Took an amazing amount of marks as a lead up type forward, and was also dangerous around the packs. Was my BOG tonight.

For such a small man, to present as well as he did was phenomenal.

Still, lacking that consistency...

that, or at the front of fevs feet whenever he is being double teamed. i hate the little maggot but milne would of kicked 50 goals if he was in our team last year. would love to see betts play this role (crumbing 2.5 goals a game, not being a snivelling rodent)

what a champ. gives it everything he has.

it's always so odd to see the smallest man on the ground leading up to take marks on the wing, but he doesn't care, he just does what he does.

He played very well. Even when he didn't get the mark his second efforts were good and he seemed to shrug tackles without problems and find a team mate in space. Was one of the most influential players out there.

Thought he was our best tonight.
Certainly needed a good one though because he may have been on the chopping block next week.
Now lets see if he can follow it up!

His best and hardest working game for us IMO. The only blight was when he held the ball up in the dying stages of the 3rd quarter and turned it over, resulting in an Essendon goal on the siren. That was a pivotal moment in the game, and possibly one of the reasons why Essendon got such a run on.

He played a different role last night. He was the lead up forward and he was creating space for Fev.

Another thing I noticed with Eddie's game was when there was as stoppage in the forward half, he would work extremely hard with Juddy to free him up by blocking his opponent.

He certianly played a different role, and played it well.

His best game.

Eddie is an important part of the Carlton team. He is deceptively strong at making and breaking tackles. He had an even better game last night, than his five goal haul against Melbourne in the final round last year. Go Eddie!:thumbsu:

I would say he was a reason as to why Essendon got a run on. They already were up and running before that point of the game. Lloyd's goal from 50 got the Bombers going again. Thought Betts was ripped of when the umpire gave Fletcher that free kick in the marking contest, that was definitely play on! Outstanding game from Betts was Carlton's best for the night and his best game by a mile for the Blues.

Is that the first "tunnelling" free kick that's been paid ? It was clearly bullsh!t.

Eddie's game last night was easily his best for the club so far. Was very valuable up and down the ground.

Just goes to show that he's probably not the kind of Milne-type player that we still need one of in the fwd line. If we had a second string goal sneak who can kick 2 every week out of the fwd line (as opposed to Judd and Stevens and Kreuzer kicking them as mids) we may well have got over the line every week. Fev must be shattered - he kicks 8 and we still don't have enough goals.

Played very well last night, one of, if not his best game for the club. This is his best season for us thus far in his career.

I'm really impressed, he's providing options for us further up the ground and is a genuine target across half forward.

Well done to him on a great start to the season and hopefully he can keep it up because he is an important part of this side.

Equal BOG with Fev.
Ed was everywhere tonight, and didn't let the team down on any instance.
He is consistently bagged by opposition and sometimes even blues supporters but I hope tonight's performance glued their mouths shut. Very underrated player and an important asset to our team.

Shredded us all night. I was screaming for someone to shut him down but he's an elusive player. Best game I've seen him play, for sure.

The way he led up in the midfield and got himself to the ball was great, his efforts in the packs, and his roving efforts were the best I have seen of him!

Best game of his career.
