Maybe the weekends result will motivate Eddie to push even harder to land a big fish in the draft.

we will smash the Blues Ed. Why are you always so pessimistic on the club?

What about the last month or more has you confident we'll beat the Blues? Outside typical die hard supporter optimism?

The Blues are a step below every team in the comp besides Brisbane. Their honeymoon period under Barker is over and they're playing the same, disinterested footy as they were under Malthouse.

If the boys put in a shred of effort this week Carlton could well play us back in to form.

Ed unfortunately confident of beating no one other than the blue or bombers ( and the Lions given their injury list). We will smack the blues.
Wold take blind optimism for any others sadly;)

Bolded the most important word in your post.

IF. I posted after the Port game that I believed the team was in CBF mode. Every passing week is confirming my suspicions to be true. Each subsequent loss will only exacerbate this issue. Melbourne is already one of the worst sides in the competition and they beat us handily. Carlton, while also a terrible side, have shown significant effort improvement under Barker which has resulted not only in wins, but improved performances against middle of the road sides.

Collingwood are indeed a middle of the road side. No one on this board could possibly argue otherwise with a straight face. Carlton aren't oblivious to what is happening at other football clubs, let alone an arch rival like Collingwood. If both Carlton and Collingwood were to take the last month as a snapshot for assessing their chances for this weekend, I'd wager you'd see two starkly different results.

Carlton would not be looking at Collingwood as "yet another loss". They'd be looking at us as "gettable". Carlton has nothing to lose. They know they're not making finals and can play with the freedom afforded to a side guaranteed to not be playing finals with a new caretaker coach who has no real expectations upon them.

Collingwood, given the past month, would be looking at the Carlton game nervously as another opportunity to lose a game to a side we should not be losing to.

It's not like the skill gap between the sides is vast. Our skills are deplorable even when we're playing with confidence, let alone now with our confidence shot. This is an advantage we don't' have over Carlton right now. Our side is basically just as young (if not younger) and just as inexperienced (if not more so) than theirs. This combined with our dire lack of any confidence in anything we're doing, spells utter disaster for this weekend.

I understand Buckley would be doing his darnedest to have these kids believe that while the results aren't coming, the process they're following will eventually turn that around. But that is a tough job with such a young inexperienced group of players, especially when the senior players are also lacking form and confidence. It's these leaders you look to when things are down.

But I saw Scott Pendlebury play arguably the worst game of his career, combined with Swan and Sidebottom playing some of the most ineffective high possession football you're ever likely to see.

So again, outside good ol' fashioned die hard supporter optimism, there's no logical reason for any real confidence this weekend against Carlton. But that's just my take on it.

Have you even watched Carlton for the past couple of weeks? They showed improvement for a few games under Barker, but they're playing arguably worse footy now than they were under Malthouse.

Melbourne was the first game where the bulk of the team were noticeably not putting in effort. Provided they can find it within themselves to put in a shred of effort they should comfortably account for Carlton. Half their side seem to have mentally checked out because they know they won't be there next year. Yarran is a prime example.

If this downward spiral were to continue into 2016 then I believe Eddie would sack Bucks.

Agree - It be his last year of his Contract and IF we are not better then I would not be Surprise IF Bucks is Sack.

Though Eddie did not sack MM in 2004-2005

Even with recent form we /should/ win by a high amount but I agree. I thought the Melbourne game was a 'danger' game, and because we lost it, this one is now. Every game, no matter the opposition, is a 'danger' game until we win another. Confidence (lack of) is a bitch.

Buckley will be coaching the Pies until at least the end of 2018.

Only an idiot would even consider sacking him.

We will defeat Carlton, and I expect us to win all but one of our games in the run home.

Adam Goodes' comeback against us will ensure we cant win that game.

Well IF something happens next year. I think it’s a Valid Thing to Think about

We will be hard pressed to beat Richmond and Geelong also. Ten wins will be a poor return after such a great first half of the season.

It is very disappointing but hopefully we will be better placed next year.

just a thought on the thread title..... eddie is pissed means that he is drunk..... eddie is pissed orf means that he is upset..

now i know how americans say it. I was there years ago trying to explain the concept to them and the differences in the wording. It's my understanding that this is an australian forum and it should use the australian vernacular

Great is a bit strong. I'll give you good but the draw was a factor in 8-3 and has been a factor in 0-6. After 17 games with only 1 repeat we are 8-9 which is about where we belong. 10-12 is about the same status and about the same as last year. That's about where the list is. We lost one of our best players between seasons so a quick pick-up was always going to be optimistic. What has been disappointing is the lack of real progress from the likes of Seedsman and Broomhead. That's where our 2015 upside potential was.

If it's more than a coincidence then something else is going on. What do you think is going on?

Not sure what you Mean by that Question

TD. You said that our situation is more than a coincidence so I take it that you mean that something other than the win loss ratio is the same as what it was last year. Are you thinking that something else hasn't changed and that is the cause of our problems? E.g. Coaching, fitness staff etc?

Well - I would not know but I say there might be something else to it.

Fitness Staff could be 1 that looks and Coaches is also another. Maybe something in the Player Group maybe.

I don’t work at the Club so I just Wondering
