please stop making comments about if the roles were reversed. The fact is the roles weren't reversed and Caro clearly has more class than to make a stupid comment like they did.
Caro is also only one person. She's not 3 men going after the one person. And yes she clearly felt uncomfortable in the discussion with 3AW, the difference with the triple M one is that she was there to defend herself and could therefore end it. Triple M was clearly bullying a defenceless person.
The fact that it took a week to come out says a lot about the listeners of triple m.
The context makes no difference. The comments weren't appropriate out of context and certainly weren't appropriate in context.
Yes calling a woman a black widow is sexist.
Please get over that "political correctness is taking away my freedom of speech". If you just don't make any "jokes" about violence towards women or any derogatory comments will it really effect your life? You don't have a right to make derogatory comments. move on.

The main point is that Caroline has said she was offended by the comments. Therefore the comments are offensive. period.

Wut? That's not my view. It's a comment suggesting that I'm sure people would post that response despite it being essentially irrelevant to the ideological discourse.

Ya'know... 'inb4'? It's an interwebs thing.
Oh sorry you are obviously a genius, my bad.

soft spot for Carlton out of pity
Neanderthals like McGuire, Brayshaw, Frawley, etc will eventually get weeded out of the system I would hope.
Hi Sherb, ODNB, love your stance on this topic. Even better is that you doing it with a straight face posing sexy avatars like pieces of meat. :thumbsu: Love it. Very creative.

I do like the way you tarnish all listeners of a radio station with one sour brush AND outright order people how to behave while simultaneously ranting about what's acceptable behaviour.

Yeah exactly. It frustrates me that so many in the media write about the issue as if if we simply fix the way we talk about the issue and use language that it will have a massive impact. It is such a simplistic way to look at a complex issue and stems from people who have studied social science and gender studies given too much air time in the media regarding issues like this that have a lot of their basis in mental health.

Having dealt with many abusers I'd like to see the focus put onto the mental health of abusive people. Disorders like Borderline personality disorder for example is a disorder that is so prevalent in many domestic abuse cases (male and female) that I dealt with and has remarkably consistent behavior patterns. But awareness of disorders like this are very low, instead the focus by many in the media is on the language we use as it is seen as a major contributor to violence when the overall impact is questionable at best.

It is frustrating and why these huge circuses whipped up by a journalist/blogger/twitterer such as Erin Riley with expertise in gender issues don't do anything practical at all to help this issue. They just whip up a frenzy of anger from both sides that eventually subsides and then nothing changes. The people being abused continue to be abused, Eddie says sorry, Erin and her Twitter followers think they are having an impact by calling out Eddie and his ilk and we all wait until someone else says something that doesn't fit into the scope of what Erin and her followers see as appropriate. Then it all starts again.
Yes .I see what you are saying calling Eddie out isn't dealing with the problems at all ,because at the end of the day he isn't actually abusing anyone ( that we know of ) and people doing the actual abusing don't give a shit about this circus
I don't know what the statistics for borderline personality disorder are in society ( pardon my ignorance but is it the newer term for sociopaths ?? ) but sociopaths in society are estimated to be males around 3-4% of the population and women around 1-2% ...that's alot of people with a complete lack of empathy running around in society
And it's not curable

Why thank you.

I am involved with animal rescue, hence my using an avatar from an ad in which an animal is rescued.

I even named one of my cats Trevor.

Brilliant misinterpretation on your part. Well done to you!

Your mocking is just waves of hate. You have come in here, contributed nothing, trolled your ass off and now think I care about anything you say. You couldn't mock a mocking bird nonce.
Do you really want me to share my thoughts? Because the majority of people posting here don't actually want to hear other people's opinions. They just want to shout their own, score imaginary points in a game that doesn't keep score and placate their own conscience. But if you want to hear it, I'll give you mine.

As Socrates posited, society is always in a constant battle against chaos (sic freedom). When freedom of speech may contribute to violence against a section of society then it must be moderated until that issue is redressed. Do you really need hate speech to make you laugh?
Socrates was very wise, and played great soccer too, apparently. But it begs the question, doesn't it - what is "hate" speech? Who decides? It is reminiscent of the country policeman of yore who closed down the local art gallery after seeing paintings in the classical style of a few nudes, saying "I can recognize pornography when I see it."

Good, lay it out mate. But I hope it's a well understood or researched opinion.

So is your answer.

Try this:

1. My stance in here has been largely based on bullying, and a further conversation about domestic violence. I have made very little comment on sexism, except to say I didn't think it was in this case. Ooh, that's not a great start there champ.

2. You see a head shot of a person that is not at all suggestive or sexualised, sexualise it yourself and comment as though the person with the avatar is thinking the same way as you. Thinking you might have just said more about you than me there.

Next time perhaps.

FFS for the last time that was BANTER because she was there to defend herself, what Eddie did was BULLYING.
Just to clarify ...by your definition when Caro repeatedly slaged off Dane Swan over several years ..saying he should be sacked he's a terrible influence a drug addict etc etc ,because he wasn't there to banter with her when the comments were made ..would you classify that as bullying ?

It doesn't have to be sexist. Is it bullying? Is it offensive? If you are saying it about someone you dislike, who you do not have a bantering relationship with, is it mean spirited?

A lot of efforts being made to shut down the discussion and not many of them are very articulate.
I haven't heard it so I can't comment on whether it was bullied because I'm not sure how it was said but I guarantee that if it was said about a male in caros position nothing at all would be made of it

He missed a critical penalty
