I heard a bit of his rant on Dumb & Dumber on 5AA this arvo.

Collingwood never get picked for anything ... wah wah wah ... some kind of conspiracy ... wah wah wah ... ignored in Team of the Century ... wah wah wah ... most important club on the planet ...

Then he was asked if the 18 games at the MCG was a consolation to which he replied, in true champagne comedy fashion,

"Well, you get 12 games at Football Park every year."

That's gold Ed.
yes and he's also right.

playing against victorian teams on neutral territory is not equivalent to a home game.

Collingwood's only true home games are against interstate teams in Victoria.

and how many of those do they get?

Its not the 'home ground advantage' we're worried about, its the compound effects of continual travel, with focus on issues such as fatigue, and increased likelyhood of injury which are the problem.

Surely you can see that not leaving your home state for 6 weeks prior to the finals is an advantage over say, a Freo, who had they made it would have had to make the WA to SA trip the week before.

I don't think Adelaide are advantaged, I don't think Collingwood are advantaged.

It all balances itself out. Home state advantage is huge. As evidenced by interstate dominance/finishing top 4 in recent seasons. Even the minor advantage Geelong has benefits them greatly.

But your points are valid all the same. Hard to counter-argue.

Far more reasonable than the simplistic KG and Cornsey rants 'they got 18 games in Melbourne!! stop the presses'
