Hi all

Straight after his channel nine duties on Friday Eddie called the football department into a room and put them all on notice - including MM. There is a meeting this morning where all will be asked to outline why they should keep their roles next year.

I know i will be asked for a source but can't give it to you - all i can say is that it is true.

Unless there is a source it is all crap, speclation, rumour or all three.

If it happened why would
1. You get to hear about it
2. You put it on BF

Good move by Eddie to move the focus off the players for once and on to the coaching staff. In 2004 they got off lightly because it was a "once-off". Now they are rightly under the pump.

First to go should be Brad Gotch for failing to deliver players ready for AFL football. Almost without exception (2044 draftees teh only exception) our trainees have taken far too long to either get a senior game or get a regular game.

Second to be reviewed is our ruck department, both in the sourcing and the coaching of ruckmen. Its appalling

Third is the medical team. Players keep breaking down - why?

Hi Murray

There is a source just not willing to let you know who it is - not fair on them. Not interesed in a slanging match re source etc. Just letting other supporters know there is something going on at the club. Not sure what is in it for me to state something that is not true - not like we all know each other or that i will get any extra kudos.

Not saying anyone is gettin the sack either just passing on factual info ie a meeting is being held.

Thanks for the info - even if it isn't true (and not calling you a liar) I can at least get by on the faint glimmer of hope that someone at the club is dissatisfied with us being complete sh1t-kickers.

i thought it would be a given that the Eddie would be breathing fire down the backs of the footy department, and the playing list will be feeling the heat also

The team that delivered Egan, Rusling, TCloke, Yakka, with Davies & OBrien (rookies) for this year can remain, and I hope can deliver once more - a perfect sweep of picks - 6 of the best. Anyone within the football department who opposed this new broom, should leave voluntarily....now.

I don't know the personalities or their flexibilities, but the brand new day mob wins IMHO. Time to show we are moving with that future day in mind and forgetting the past patting on backs, have a beer and cigar -gee aren't we good.

It may be necessary to show players and supporters that we are indeed serious on change (by having some) - the past was good but that has gone, we only need a football dept team that will deliver again six of the best and nurture them into a skillful, free-flowing, proactive football team. We can wait (impatiently) if we again see 6 of the best being brought on, but much more impatiently if we see we are just going through the motions of old-time favourites at the bar.

Still no ruckmen after lack of ruckmen cost us a flag though........

Besides, there's more to the football department than the recruiting guys. And the recruiting guys owed us big time after the debacles of the previous 2-3 seasons where we picked up Lokan B Morrison Shackleton Mullins McGough King Nixon and Hall.

No argument; just emphasis. If we are starting to get step one right - recruiting (please don't let us go backwards on that seeking instant stardom), then on a lower key this time (trying to be positive toned) I did mention nurture and style of play. On those I have been much more despairing on earlier posts elsewhere. Is Mick going on bushwalks with the rookies mid-season mean he is becoming sensitive youngster team-building Confucian Age man? Has Balmey won over every Pies supporter with his forthright, down the centre forked tongue comments to the point that all credibility has been lost ... or regained?

Is it just this style that has to change or personnel? Well CFC doesn't have to hire change-mangement experts to answer that. The top personnel must model and embody (not just mouth words) the changes desired through the club or they have exactly no time or one year max left.

they needed to get it right eventually, hasnt been much for them to hang their hat on Draft selections wise for a while

I pray this is true and rhetorical.

While I have no positives for Gotch I think the lack of production from Willi has more to do with the lack of talent we have drafted. Regardless what does he offer in the box? From my spot in the stands I'd guess as much as McKenna and Brown which is SFA. Either that or MM won't listen which in itself wouldn't surprise me.

Hanging's too good for 'em.

Not so sure on this one. For 2 years we had few in juries and for 2 we've had our share. The problem has been more who than how many though.

Thanks for that startling relevation ...
Good editing Understudy. I would have thought a meeting to determine who keeps their jobs may be something to share with other supporters.

Obviously not you - no wonder i hardly ever post on this site. Maybe i should just post crap like 'this & that player are soft' - you know good objective comments like that.

Completely agree. Are we the only ones that are sick and tired of being smacked in the ruck every week for the last 10 years.

The 2002 and 2003 drafting was a disgrace.
