With the shutdown of the SANFL due to COVID-19, Central District Football Club is in dire financial straits and is seeking donations to stay afloat. If anyone is able to donate you can do so here: https://asf.org.au/projects/central-district-football-club/ Donations are tax deductible.

Sansbury is not the only Central Districts player to play for the Kangaroos - Nathan Grima, Peter Jonas, Stuart Cochrane, Alan Obst, Terry Moore and Derek Kickett also hailed from the club.

Thanks.

What is the status of the other clubs?

Not totally sure but I believe a few others are seeking donations too. Central Districts are particularly hard hit as our main income is from game day and our licensed club (with pokies), all of which are shut down at this stage.

Quick fish, delete "with pokies" as that doesn't go down too well around here.

Ask the Gowan brothers to give back the brown paper bags.

Add Terry Moore to that list. Thought that he might have been around North for longer. Played in the 1976 GF.

He kicked 5 goals on Adam Cooney back in the day.
North fans might be interested in watching Eddie Sansbury kicking 5 goals on Adam Cooney in the 2003 SANFL Grand Final, which Central Districts are replaying on their Facebook page tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm (4:30 Vic time). IIRC the game was free flowing and played in perfect conditions.

The club has been replaying our winning Grand Finals over the last couple of weeks and they have been great - lots of joviality and banter, which you'd expect when you know that you win the flag at the end! :trophy::beercheers:

It no longer happens now but one of the great things about the SANFL used to be when the Grand Final was played a week after the VFL/AFL Grand Final and it was on TV. Loved watching another game of football and they were always, in my eyes anyway, terrific games of football.

The old VFA days too, the GF's were terrific games to watch

Remember that too - geez we’re old.

All through the 2000's we'd head down to footy park the first Sunday in October, sing the national anthem then a few hours later (most years anyway) we'd be singing the club song celebrating another flag. Great times. :thumbsu:
