You obviously support Greenvale mate.
Why dont you have a crack at it youself and see how you go?
I think he is doing a great job for the EDFL.
I suggest you dont listen to the radio in future !

I dont! - dont you think if I was a supporter I would be at that game?!!...
I didn't say Pillios wasn't doing a great job for the EDFL, the saturday morn show isn't bad

Essendonsuperspy, word on the street is that you don't even have any ears...!
If this is true, how do you even hear what's being said on the radio?
Stop being a keyboard warrior and potting blokes that are doing a great job to keep improving the league.

Great job Matty on the commentating, good to hear what's going on around the grounds on a Saturday. By the way the lads on the sideline are loving EDFL's version of Tiffany Cherry......

Matty Pillios has been a supporter of Marby for a while... Fact
helped them win a flag ( by not playing...:) ) fact
Would he have liked to see Marby be greenvale... Fact
Aloi, Bicer are two of his close mates and they play for Greenvale... Fact
Have you been to greenvale in recent times... It is beautiful out their and the weather was great so if he was disracted by the idyllic surroundings... Fair Enough...
Compared to those bananas from last year he'll win a golden Microphone...

Well said..
As for bias it'd be a little hard to not have a soft spot for a side that you helped assemble you'd think, that said was very minimal if any. They're doing an excellent job which is deserving of praise instead of knocking them for their efforts.

Guys,
Having spent 14 years of my life trying to bring EDFL info to as many people as possible on 98.9 fm I can only heap praise on a younger and enthusiastic Matty Pillios for continuing to do what I started in 1994. I have worked alongside Matty on Radio and also on channel 31 and have not met a more passionate or informed person in grass roots football. Matty may have some knockers but he is up front and does not hide between a "Non de plume " as many people who post on Big Footy do. It is not easy to get into the inner sanctum of footy clubs and only by earning respect and gaining trust from the coaches and committees can you deliver truth and fact. It took me many years to earn the respect that I got and Matty is slowly gaining that same respect. I am personally wrapped in seeing people like Matty and Emily taking over from where I left off and to hell with the knockers, as they mostly are a jealous bunch of w***ers who would never be satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed my 15 years in the media representing the EDFL and would like to think I gave it my best shot and I wish Matty and Emily every success in the future. KD
If only APW could string a few together LOL

Well said mate!

Your Saturday morning coverage is missed however the new format, EDFL Web Show and Match of the round is terrific. Matty and Co are doing a sensational job

It's great to see the EDFL moving ahead in leaps and bounds this season

Next step - take over Windy Hill when the Bombers move to the old airport site and play a match of the round there a la Elsternwick Park in the VAFA. Perfect chance to finally move out of Marshall Rd.

Are Oak Park a contender for the 4? Seem to be playing very good football[/quote]

i think we are a contender for the four, the boy's are really playing the game style plunks has asked of them very well and have been extremely hard at the contest in all 5 of the matches so far and we are getting a very even spread of goalkickers with no real focal point that we go to more than anyone else, the backline has been very solid and when your playing against a midfield with the likes of raso, gleeson, ryan and higgs along with others you know your going to have to earn your own footy... the only problem with making the four in this comp is that to make you have to atleast beat two of the teams that your vying with, weve come close against marby and we were in the whole game against keilor and baring inaccuracy would have given them a real scare, juust need to take our chances better against these "big" four more often and i think we may be there come the pointy end of the season... here's hoping anyway :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Keilor missing a number of key players and lucky to get away with a win in the end. Johnson missed a 'gettable' goal in the dying seconds which would have made it a draw.

worth noting here, avondale were missing a few of their key players also. the inclusion of johnson in the team was huge from what i saw. they looked like a quality team and were very stiff not to walk away with the win.

2 clear freekicks not given in the last minute.

Big call, but if the bombers were to vacate Windy Hill. Would the EDFL want play a 'match of the round' there each weekend?

This wouldn't be a good idea. In the ammos when teams play at Elsternwick Park they get no revenue for the game. Teams hate getting 'match of the round' games.

Ammo clubs don't rely on revenue from home games as much as edfl or any surburban team for that matter, purely because of the fact that their players don't get paid!

Ammo teams hate getting the 'match of the round' games because Elsternwick Park is a sh*thouse ground, where the toss of the coin can actually decide the outcome of the match.

It would certainly effect EDFL clubs bottom line playing at Essendon. For instance, Strathmore v Greenvale or Marby v Keilor draw massive crowds and the turnover from bar and food sales is massive. Prob needs to be to pay the players wages.

If they were to have a match of the round - fair chance the EDFL would charge for entry with a percentage of the takings going to the home side.

i've never been to a 'big game' before.

Yes but the only reason that the EDFL does not get bar revenue and food sales is because of the windy hill social club, if Essendon leave then that will leave with them and then surely the EDFL can allocate the bar and food to the home club.

But lets be serious there is now way Essendon are leaving windy hill, they are just trying to bully the bowls and cricket club into leaving.

I heard tonight that a strathmore player got suspended for racial vilification in there match against West Coburg, must have been pretty bad, does anyone know who and how many weeks he copped??

Can anyone confirm Ben Power selected to play for Abers this week? Apparently walked out on DS after being dropped to 2's.

Very hard to play for another club if you are not cleared ,says something about the footballer if he walked out for being dropped , should fight his way back in to the one's and talk with his footy boot , isn't that what we tell our under age footballers ?

Round 6 Tips

Doutta vs West Coburg
Strathmore Vs Craigieburn
Oak Park Vs Greenvale
Keilor Vs Aberfeldie
Marby Vs Avondale

Go Marby.

Any other news around the EDFL.

Might just see an upset Oak Park Vs Greenvale
Doutta's are no certainty over West Coburg either
Should be a good round of Footy this weekend
