Meanwhile what a massive win for the Rox today. Really disappointing last week before bounced back brilliantly. Shows how well roxy have planned and set up for a decent crack at div1
The last 2 premiers on Div2 went up and came straight back down with zero wins and one win respectively. After 13 rounds we have 3 wins and could look to add a 4th before the season is done. Thanks to all the doubters who gave us inspiration . Planned perfectly and with limited funds have competed well. Hopefully we'll start getting some respect from other sides and certain people in this forum. Wonder if old mate Turbo came down to Roxy with his hillside mates and watched that today

Massive result. Well done.

Facts matter. Fitaax did not king hit the Tulla player. After being repeatedly bumped from behind he threw his elbow from in front and connected with the Tulla player. He was reported by the goal umpire, and given a yellow card. He went on to be one of the better players for West Coburg, and as always will poll highly in the comp medal because he is an outstanding ball player.
The previous incident occurred 7 years ago and is not part of the story. Both players involved have apologised to each other and have moved on. Fitaax served his suspension and has not been reported again since (or before).
The Tulla supporters near the social club (was not close enough to hear the Tulla bench) also issued a series of slurs that poorly reflect on the club and their attempts to create a more inclusive culture. Would find it hard to be a non-Anglo person and remain a supporter of that club after what I heard.
Was a great win by West Coburg after losing by 100 points the first time around to Tulla. Their best is good enough to compete with the top sides.
Your joking right. Elbow, fist, doesn't matter. That is a king hit behind play. A elbow to the head is no better than a fist to the head!!

Exactly throwing your elbow backward to an opposition players head is just as bad as a punch from behind.

Yeah, great result for Roxy. Need to keep building though and consolidate themselves in Div 1. Recruiting is so important these days, great to have young homegrown coming through but always need to recruit bigger bodied mid 20’’s type players to keep that upward momentum.

What a load of crap, and if you are from WC this probably reflects why your club has this stain on it.
The kid was punched from behind, hence why he was laying face down on the ground. If it was an elbow from behind he would have ended up on his back.
As for comments from Tulla supporters / bench why do you go down the non Anglo path ? Has zero to do with it. Fittax did a dog act FACT. Nothing to do with his cultural background so dont play that card.
Most dissapointing thing is he was offered 2 week and accepted.
Tullamarine have already requested an investigation and will take the matter further. And so they should as this bloke should not be playing football. He is a serial offender and his previous incidents DO come into this as he obviously hasn’t learnt

True about recruiting Joey. I think you’ll see the path that Roxy takes will be small steps and gradually build each year by adding quality youth rather than go down the path of throwing big money to older ‘big name’ players nearing the end of their careers. They will still need to have some experience thou around the young kids.

Hopefully Tulla take this further as 2 weeks is not an acceptable penalty.

In an era where there is community awareness to eradicate the cowards punch, this COWARDS act has no place in football, let alone society.

You quote he was being repeatedly bumped- this is after 20mins of play in the 1st quarter?? Please... For as long as anyone can remember a defender has always had touch on a forward which is all that occurred. Many witnesses saw the incident and FACT was an under 19 kid had touch on his opponent and Fitaax reverts to a coward punch behind the play.

For the west Coburg bench to immediately claim race as an excuse before Fitaxx had even left the field shows this is a sorry excuse that has been trotted out on too many occasions, to justify a coward who reverts to violence time and time again on field.

For the coach to claim he didn’t see the incident and reason that he couldn’t act on it is a cop out, and he needs to acknowledge that as the figure head for the club a stance needs to be made. The fact that an experienced assistant coach from west Coburg made no attempt to remove his player from the field after seeing a 19 year old kid face down in the goal square behind the play is further indictment on this poor excuse for a club.

The goal umpire also needs to take ownership and make a statement that this has no place in football.

Fitaax’s record speaks for itself. He needs the book thrown at him, rubbed out for life and deregistered from ever playing football again.

Well done uptherox proved plenty wrong
Who played well yesterday from both sides?

Will be interesting too see what happens with Fitaxx
Great player but this is his second major incident

Hahaha laughable opinion there.. werent they the first club to ring cam Cloke when jacana folded ??

Everyone stood up. Multiple avenues to goal and didn't rely on hitting up Cappa all day although he presented well all day. Backline played superbly without a few key players back there (kaj, cookie and Hoppo) and we've not had Ferras most of the season and the ruck had been shouldered by Micallef and young Elliot who's also held a key back post. The kids are coming on well in this side. The coaches efforts can't be underestimated. Wins a flag first year in then looks like he's managed to stay up despite a modest budget to work with. Massive effort from footy ops to put this together as well

Well said Huey, couldn’t agree more, Fitaax is a poor excuse for a human and his club are a disgrace. I hope Tulla take this all the way and he is deregistered

So your defense is he got a bumped a few times by his opponent so threw his elbow into his opponent’s head off the play?
I hope you’re not a defense lawyer.
I watched fitaax stand next to Matson while he was face down on the ground and act like nothing had happened. Didn’t look like the reaction of someone who had “accidentally” caused injury.

There’s no doubting he is a very good player. Was probably the best player in this div in their 2014 premiership season but acts like this really let himself down.

A bad tribunal record is definitely part of the story, I believe he got 11 weeks following the GF incident against APW, has he served any other suspensions? Could be deregistered by the end of the week.

This incident aside WC were the better side on the day against a poor Tullamarine. They made the most of a few half chances in the first qtr to get out to a four goal lead and Tulla were never able to bridge that gap in average conditions.

Laughable reaction from you. Yes we spoke to him but was a quick conversation. ANYONE would have taken Cloke for what he can add in goals, bums on seats (or at the bar) and experience around the club. Still wouldn't have detracted from the fact we added youth this year instead of trying ALL older, experienced blokes

Either way if it was an elbow or a punch, the action isn't condoned. He has only ever been reported once and that was the GF, an act in which most people are aware of. To say he is a dirty player is a litter rough for someone who has only been reported twice in his life, unfortunately he has had two brain fades which will ultimately provide him with that label, fair or unfair, it is what it is.

In regards to the race card being played, it wasn't the incident itself, it was more so the umpire sent the wrong player off. He sent another player of African descent instead. It is a simple mistake, however the field umpire should have confirmed with the goal umpire prior to making the decision. An another player then explained the situation to the umpire, stating that the wrong player had been sent off. The player who is of Fijian descent then was sent off for pointing that out. 3 players of colour were the only players sent off, not making any bold claims there but the reason why the "race card" was mentioned, was not to defend that action but the fact the umpire sent the wrong player off due to mistaken identity. I can only assume that the goal umpired confirmed this at quarter time and that is the reason as to why Fitaxx was not able to return to play until the 15 minute mark of the second quarter.

I have to commend both teams for the way the game way played after the incident, both teams played the ball with no further altercations. A game of contested football in the wet.

All that were there would have to say the second half was one of the best 2 goal half of football you'd ever see.

Whichever way you describe it, it was a DOG act by someone that shouldn't be allowed to participate in this sport.

In regards to the other player being sent off for pointing out the mistake , maybe if he wasn't so aggressive the umpire would've listened and corrected it. In stead he carried on and deserved to be sent off...

Until WC front up and act on these disgusting & dangerous DOG acts(instead of claiming they never saw it or pulling the race card) they will never have Respect and frankly don't deserve it

WC - the action isn’t condoned but anyway we didn’t see it (how convenient) and therefore won’t do a thing about it. That’s the club I want my kids to play for.
EDFL - we don’t condone king hits behind play especially from someone who should never have been able to play the game again - penalty 2 weeks.
Bravo.

Is it not until a player gets brain damage that things change? Why aren’t all games filmed in the EDFL like they are in the NFL? They grab enough money from clubs as it is!

Surely the league is not going to allow the bottom side of this years div1 a free ticket. Why don’t they offer the 2 grand final teams in div2 the opportunity to go up. If one of them doesn’t want to go up then allow the bottom team the opportunity to stay up. This needs to be closely assessed post season as if the bottom side is getting beaten by big margins then they don’t deserve to stay up.
They should have put Sunbury Kangaroos in div1 this season and problem solved..

It would appear Roxburgh Park could be struggling to field a competitive side as to my knowledge they have announced 1 decent recruit. That’s not going to be sufficient and I can see things getting ugly with big results against them. At least Jacana were having a dip and stayed competitive in a lot of games and they recruited a few more than Roxburgh Park have to this point.

Views anyone.,
Looks pretty stupid now. Jacana don't even exist and Roxy look like staying up. You don't need the BIG NAMES to stay up but a tight group with a lot of youth.... as you would have seen on the weekend when we smacked your sharks up Turbo

Interesting week East Keilor V Westmeadows at Overland
Hillside 2 weeks off due to split weekend wont help their cause momentum wise
Battle of Relegation (Roxy and TL have Byes and get 4 points) - makes it difficult for Oak Park
