Just making a point as to maybe why they were struggling to recruit. It is a bit of a hike!!!

I get that Bash but when you lose players ( whether it be for more money or not )who are content to stay in div 1 are you really losing anyone who can sustain a premier team that can be successful.
Obviously not but l digress. $150 per game can be a lot to a student / apprentice or young family man no matter what the travel.
Remember straight back down last time and remember no 19s in 2019.
Just out of interest do all EK recruits live in area or do they have to travel ?

Yeah I agree not a big loss in that sense, which also makes me question. Tulla obviously keen to move up to prem. Why go after 2 players that are coming over because they don’t want to play prem? Would they leave if Tulla are to win the premiership also and move up to prem?

No idea where people live mate or their travel commitments.

Honestly like I said ur sources are off for ek news, trust me. Take my word Bongetti is here to play prem, He is joint captain. Lock him in to play to mid 30’s. Also Polazzolo and Grabowski both proven prem players from Bundoora regarding our previous convo.

Avondale went after him a couple of years ago I heard right ?

Why do you keep ignoring my hillside recruit comment ? Deliberate ? or your genuinely not sure about the recruits ?

Yeah Grabowski one of the best players in comp and clearly up to premier as is Palazzolo but did mention post 2019 as was alluding to the new recruits mate.

I’m not in the know at Hillside other than hearing they are chasing younger type players as want to build a platform for a crack at it in 2022-23. Personally it’s a good way forward as easier to recruit a few experienced players if you went up, but you need a younger kind of base. Kids with pace and no fear and like the modern day game plans. Charlie has some contacts in that age group and is looking for sustained success I believe. How far can the group go In 2021 is anyone’s guess.

I do know of one recruit they are yet to announce who should go well. But it’s not my place to announce it on BF. I do have credibility 😉

Craigieburn always had trouble recruiting due to the travel. Hillside and other “outer” type suburbs can encounter similar issues. It’s stuck in the peak traffic for 9 months of the year can drive you nuts.. Maybe with reduced cap and players allowed some space it might improve.

It’s alright getting $150 extra to travel to Craigieburn but that extra money is not worth having your wheels stolen for. Just kidding 😄😄

Why do you assume the boys don’t want to play premier ? they both went to premier in 2017 after the 16 flag and were both committed to premier for 2020 season
Maybe they just want a change after Craigieburn were not showing any signs of being prepared for 2021 ?

interesting perspective barmaid. bearing in mind what ALL teams are faced with at moment, can you please explain why craigieburn are not showing any signs of being prepared for 2021.

Mate let’s be honest here. Bongetti little chance to stay on and play premier league. Not that he can’t but pretty sure you will find he doesn’t want to play that level hence why his been playing at a lower level and been enticed to B grade footy. Purely there to help get you to premier. Just saying what I’ve heard.
Fact is Fab has struggled in prem in the past mate.
Coletta is promising but another who has not played higher than B grade so no guarantees there. Would like to see him have a crack but has moved from B grade club to another B grade club. So could that be telling you something maybe? [emoji848] Personally would have liked to seen him go to a premier club like Avondale and try his luck at his age. Why waste another year at his age playing B grade?

Could’ve had some nostalgia to that seeing that his old man played at Avondale. Perhaps later once he gets his body right and has a full season under his belt

I’ve been told Laffan leaving purely because he doesn’t want to play premier. Especially in a team not well equipped for it. His words not mine.

Yeah good strategy, I like it. Gets them a good 2-3 years of recruiting and building a list more suited for prem. Pretty much what ek tried to do as of last year, and wm this year honestly I think that’s the only way to go up to prem and have ur best chance of trying.

That’s good about the recruit. I like hearing about other clubs recruiting quality. Makes the standard of our division much higher [emoji106]

Bash .it can only be his words if he said them to you not what a third party told you. Called hearsay. still waiting for barmaid to tell us why Craigeburn are not prepared for season 2021

Word is Hillside are chasing a handful of young guys from Keilor. The Hillside coach’s son played at Keilor and there are a number of them to transfer across along with one that already has.

Good to have you back Ginger. He should have went last season or this season to Avondale and had a crack especially on that bigger ground. Less crash and bash on his body to some extent as better delivery. He definitely has talent at the right age and stuck by Hillside his local club but unfortunate with injury. He plays in 2018 finals and who knows how far HS go. His time to try premier imo. Why move to a club in the same division is really bemusing to be honest.
Even his good mate Micallef should have tagged along. Interested to see how he would go under the guidance of premier players. He goes in hard and could work with the outside premier players.

Anyway it is what it is. And the world moves on.. Best we say no more!!

Have I missed something bashen or have ek won the 2021 div 1 flag
Never get ahead of yourself
Saw Avondale heights years ago have a superstar side and went out in straight sets
They got ahead of themselves

Never once said we will win it. Just spent the last 3 comments complementing hillside for perusing recruits and hoping they do well. Not saying ek going to win a flag.

You try and be civil and have a good convo then you come out with moronic comments like this 🤦🏼‍♂️

hey Dandy. Maybe not prepared the wrong words. More concern over the number of players leaving / retired and lack of recruits coming in. Not a lot of contact from club to players over the last 6 months.

Bit of catch up footy here .... can we swap EK with Craigieburn in Premier, EK gets closer to being anywhere near falling under the cap, young Laffan stays at home along with others and everyone on here seems more jovial and content?

Just saying ha ha!!!

Seems Hillside really targeting youngsters. Were chasing a couple from EK as well. I think they’ll do better than most expect.
When do the EDFL decide what Div Rupertswood start in?

What do the EDFL do with Rupertswood? Do the EDFL let them come in at div2 level and dominate like Sunbury kangas and disadvantage the existing div 2 teams, or do they put them in Div 1 and see how they go thus eliminating the bye

Surely option two is better for all concerned. The Sunbury derby will be huge! No love lost between the two teams.
