Pound for Pound Div 1 is the best competition in the EDFL. Not the best standard as Premier craps on it in that regard but by far the best competition as it's so even. Premier really only 4 clubs can win the GF and only 5 clubs have consistently played off in finals in the past 6 years, there are 4 clubs just participating with no hope of making finals and they know it. There is some real interest in Div 1.
EK clear favourites but any one of Tulla, APW, Westy, Hillside, Sunbury Kanga's would give themselves every chance every game, even T.Lakes with their pick up's would fancy themselves for a few upsets during the year. Sunbury Kanga's will be strong in this comp.

You honestly feel sunbury will be competitive? I tip them to finish bottom 3 no offence to anyone involved at Sunbury

Good Post - In my opinion, this is how i see the season - Sunbury Kanga's will win approx 6-7 games. They will lose both games to EK, APW,Westy,Tulla & Possibly West Coburg. That totals 10 loses for the season, they may also have an upset loss against the other 3 teams and may sneak a win so a balance of 6-7 wins. They have not recruited well enough for this division and think they can get the job done with basically the same squad - not happening. In fact, when the draw comes out, Sunbury Vs Roxy, T/L, WC in the first 3 rounds would be a good guide to see how they go before they play the favorites and reality sets in. EK,Tull & AW will not lose more than 2-3 games for the season. Westy, Hillside & WC will be the middle batch- with Sunbury, TL & Roxy in the bottom 3. Then, when finals come around, it will the team best suited to the larger grounds (Windy Hill & Greenvale) as i believe Coburg will not be available. YES- Transfers a very quite at the moment, but some big names ready to put pen to paper in the next week or so - I believe Just finalizing some school fees and rental issues !!!

Great post! I agree with majority of this however i believe ladder will look something like EK, WestM (I feel they will be the dark horse they have recruited well however havnt lodged any so who knows if they are actually commited) and APW as top 3 in no particular order. I think Tulla will be the clear 4th spot with Hillside and West Coburg 5th and 6th again in no particular order. TL in 7th with Roxy and Sunbury battling relegation in my opinion

Great to see Shagga back playing at 39years old. Probably still go alright if he can stay injury free but footy has got faster and he will need to be super fit to keep up. But great to see him back. Few $$$ involved I think. 🤔🤔

Broadbent a few $$$ involved , didn’t you read that Tulla don’t pay much and they play for free 🤣🤣🤣
Also Iam sure DC is on record somewhere saying he was going to change his recruiting strategy and game plan ? I see broadway will suit that change ,

I hope Tulla are going to blood some kids, surely it’s about time , Matson was great for them last year, there 19’s had a good year there must be players coming through.
This group as loyal as it has been and continually makes finals just can’t get the job done , DC has signed on for a couple more years so has stability to try something different .
Broadbent has burnt him big time before yet he brings him in , strange decision.
Also see one of the so called players playing for nothing Bonnici is trying to get out of his “zero paying contract “ to go back home to Hillside.🤪

Agree good post , what a comp it will be this year, I believe there will be some changes in the pecking order .
EK should with that list be too good for everyone but they still have to gel and play a game plan that suits all of there “stars” which may be difficult but should still be superior.
I think you might see great improvement from West Coburg and Hillside both have had there year of rebuilding the list and both were competitive with all teams last year.
Not convinced Tulla will have the leg speed,
As usual will be amongst it though.
APW not sure will be as good as two years ago but may prove me wrong and Westy am certainly not convinced on them or there recruiting strategy.
Roxy on the right track have recruited ok so far and should be a lot more confident of being able to take it up to and beat a lot of sides.
Sunbury Kangas have an experienced list that should be confident after an unbeaten season if they keep that list will be more than competitive and have a very good strategic coach.
Lakes have had there best recruiting pre season in a long time and will be in the mix.
The team that gets relegated this season is going to be the best to go to div 2 ever .
Still a lot of recruiting and list management to go but will be a fantastic year of Div 1 footy .

Bonnici back to Hillside, plus maybe 1 or 2 others that left in 2019. Interesting as to why they are returning 🤔🤔🤔

Why wouldnt it be a good decision 60-70 goals is hard to come by.. great signing by Housey in my opinion love how competitive this competition is going to be this year.

Apologies !! I was being sarcastic ! of course it's a great decision and a good get- has had a few injuries though and will depend on if he gets through the season. But, still a few more to come - All good !!
